FMCP bathrooms in decrepit condition

"Two weeks ago i was at the park and after running 4 miles i decided to use the men's room located just outside the main entrance to the USTA Tennis Center (Willets Point ramp area). i have never been so fucking disgusted. The minute i walked into the bathroom my nose was hit with stench that i could only describe as homeless person smell mixed with urine, shit, and armpit funk. After going into one of the stalls to pee i nearly puked. i just kept on gagging and almost peed on myself because the stench was fucking bad. The lighting inside the bathroom was very poor which is perhaps why they keep the door wide open. The sink was old and the hand dryer machine was not even working.

Every summer thousands of people from Europe, Asia and the rest of the world flock to see the US Open. We all know that this single event generates so much cash for Queens & the city. Why isn't that money going towards fixing the walking paths around the park, landscaping, better signage, new benches and better lighting installed (i wont even mention the lake). Flushing Meadows Park needs it's own conservancy (if it doesn't already have one) that actively seeks out donors throughout the city to fund construction projects and BASIC MAINTENANCE of the park. Why doesn't this administration (and i will include our governor a.k.a 'King Of New York') do something about this. Tourism is one of the many things this is city is known for. People don't spend thousands to take their family on a vacation to let's say, Newark, Hoboken??. They all want to come to this city and in the summertime they want to come to Queens for the US Open.So much park land has been given to the USTA but what are we getting in return??" - Anonymous

I'd rather piss on the grass than risk using one of those dangerous bathrooms.
Better to get fined than molested or stabbed.

I'm sure it got its yearly scrub down this past weekend. Important People Coming Season just started yesterday.

The bathrooms in Queens parks are the worst. No one seems to care one bit.

How ironic that, facing the bathrooms, is a large memento to Dinkins, including his picture, extolling him for giving park land to the USTA.

The Park has been a literal cesspool for over 40 years.

Are you kidding? More money for FMCP??
FMCP looks like the Louisiana Metrodome after Hurricane Katrina
EVERY WEEKEND just before the DSNY goes in to clean it again
Every Monday Morning

Your safer in Tijiuna on a Saturday Night than FMCP at any time of the day
The guy who used the bathroom is brave,Seal Team 6 BRAVE!!!!

It's because they steal all the money or give it to their cronies.

I would change that line to:

Queens is the worst. No one seems to care one bit.

Please.
If it's not during the Tennis Event, no one gives a crap about this park.
The loud music, drag racing and drugs and alcohol that goes on there every single night (and has for the past several years) has never been addressed. No one wants to take responsibility. The two local precincts put it off on each other. It goes on night after night. No wonder the bathrooms are a mess!

Talk about STINK huge festering 3+ week old piles of dogshit under the muni-meters and trees on Myrtle ave Ridgewood. Whole blocks smell like these bathrooms above especially by Myrtle & Freshpond
WORSE-the inter borough is like driving on the moon, somebody's going to break a tire-rod and cross over the divider into oncoming 45MPH traffic and people are gonna get killed. Craters and busted up roadway on the sharp turns !!!
This mayor and DOT commissioner belong in jail for mass negligence with people lives !!

The parks dept. needs to start charging a 50 buck fee for people to have these huge birthday parties in the park, because they really do leave it looking like a disgusting mess afterwards. Piles of trash, paper plates and crap scattered through the grass (when there is grass at all).

As for the bathrooms... people go in those things?

Flushing Conservancy. Every borough has at least one beautiful park. What the * is wrong wtih Queens?

Well, all those developers hotel guys, and restaurants and gin mills make a ton of money as they bulldoze our communities.

Why can't our politicians do some arm twisting? Spineless bums every one.

I bet you that the woman's room is even worst! Women are more disgusting than men! Pads and tampons in the toilets, shit on the seats, piss on the seats, sometimes there is still period blood in the toilet! You would never think women can be more nasty! But they are!

I live in the Bronx and I see the Parks Dept. workers at Pelham Bay Park are doing the following:

Pulling the shit out from under their fake plastic tacky airbrushed nails.
Sleeping (saw one sleeping in a garbage truck while her partner emptied out garbage cans).
Sitting on park benches looking at how many minutes they have left on their pre-paid cell phone.
A flock of females attempting to pick up garbage while yacking away about another female who kid with some guy and that guy had a kid with some other. The "f" and "n" words flew freely out of their mouths but then again, I didn't expect class from these ladies.

Meanwhile, garbage cans are overflowing and the bathrooms are also disgusting. I agree about these huge parties although my understanding is that if a group is larger than X amount of people they are required to get a permit and reserve the location. Not sure if there is a charge for it but agree there should be.

Part of the problem w/these Parks Dept. employees are they are welfare to workfare. This is probably the first time they have ever had to work and I suppose (not making excuses) after years of sitting on their fat asses and spitting out government dependents, it's just too difficult for them to grasp the concept of actual work for a paycheck, rather than being handed one for doing nothing. No one seems to supervise them and even if they do, not much is expected out of them.

The Queens Gazette (front page!) reports that USTA, in a gracious move, has furnished a booth for volunteers to help publicize Queens to tourists. They are quite supportive of the borough! Pretty fair exchange for free land, use of the park as a giant parking lot and generally ruining use of the park for 2 weeks every year.

I am tired of this continuing bogus attempt to promote Queens as a tourist destination.
Unfortunately, this hasn't worked for years because we have little to attract a world traveler.
Just the other day I observed fans leaving a Mets
game. The westbound track of the LIRR at Willets Point
was jammed full of people exiting the game.
Just a handful stopped off in Flushing , that I observed, on my eastbound train home.

If I'm gonna get mugged in a bathroom, I prefer it to happen in upscale Central Park not a shit hole like FMCP.
At least then my friends might say , "Wow" instead of "Why the fuck would you go to FMCP in the first place?"

The only good parks in Queens are 'Cunningham Park & Alley Pond Park'. I've had nothing but good experiences there. That said, i think the majority of the blame for all off this goes to the City's Parks Department. I don't know what standards they look for in their employees (obviously none) but they need to hire people with a real work ethic.

Some of these people think that just because they got a job with the city, that somehow they hit the jackpot and can't get fired for performing their duties half-assedly. The supervisors on duty should be more proactive to make sure that a task is successfully completed.

Because of the high volume of people that visit these parks it can sometimes be hard to keep the areas clean but if there aren't enough people to get the job done then hire some more. Maybe if we had Ron Swanson & Leslie Knope running the Parks dept things would get done...

I go to the park all of the time in the summer on the weekends. Yes they do spruce it up for the US Open but other than that I do enjoy seeing folks with families from all over the world enjoying the park. Enough with this third world bias. I've used those bathrooms after Mets games. You know, public bathrooms are what they are.

Central Park is pristine compared to all the other major parks. Why can't the rest follow suit. PARKS DEPT GET YOUR *HIT TOGETHER!!
