Another Meng in legal trouble

Meng (L) and Deng (R)
From the Queens Chronicle:

A Pennsylvania grand jury has recommended criminal charges against 37 people — including the brother of Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-Flushing) — in connection with the alleged fraternity hazing death of an Oakland Gardens teenager in 2013.

Chun Hsien “Michael” Deng was a student at Baruch College when he collapsed during what law enforcement sources have called a brutal ritual in which he was required to run blindfolded with a 30-pound backpack while being tackled and beaten by members of the Pi Delta Psi Fraternity.

Five Baruch students face charges of murder, according to numerous published and broadcast reports.

The Associated Press, New York Post and other sources report that Andy Meng, who was serving as national president of the fraternity in December 2013, has been charged with lesser felonies in connection with his alleged role in an attempted coverup.

The exact charges against Meng were not available from the office of Monroe County District Attorney E. David Christine Jr., which did not respond to messages left by the Chronicle.

Wonderful. It says a lot about Grace's (La China's) family.
Dad gets caught by the FBI carrying an $80,000 bribe to a judge in the bottom of a fruit basket.
Now her brother.

So let me get this straight.
My ex assemblyman, Brian Mc Laughlin was a crook.
My former city councilman, Dan Halloran, was a crook too.
Now my congress member, Grace Meng, has a brother who is an accomplice to murder?
I am batting zero here!

Meng and Deng. Sounds like a law firm or a vaudeville act.

When I pledged for my fraternity back in 1965, hazing consisted of things like pushing peanuts across the cafeteria floor with my nose, carrying the seniors textbooks, rolling tires UPHILL a few times etc. NOTHING HARMFUL OR VIOLENT!

HELLNIGHT, the final day of Pledge Week (Friday night) was when you were finally accepted or rejected as a new member of the fraternity. Despite its awful sounding name, it consisted of being tied to a tree in the backyard of the fraternity house, and being pelted with eggs, after which flour was poured over my head, and honey and ketchup were poured down the front of my pants. Awful... but NOTHING HARMFUL OR VIOLENT!

What is happening today is TRULY CRIMINAL, and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law....

The guy on the left looks dusted.

It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it is hysterical...

Truly sad! I pray for the family and friends of the pledge.

I can say with great certainty that no one in the frat woke up and said let's kill a pledge today.

This is so multifaceted.

Unfortunately Grace's brother is the top of the foodchain of the group.

Should have learned from Nixon - the coverup is worse than the crime.
But they do not teach history anymore.

Sounds like some good old fashioned football practice.
Perhaps the pledge was obese or had underlying medical issues.

They are guilty of not calling medical personnel and letting him die.
Their lives are ruined - rightfully so!

So the big question is, will Grace pull strings for her little brother?

37 of them, can you imagine all of them signing trying to throw each other under the bus?
A circular firing squad.
So much for the pledge to help your frat brother.

Just a tragedy and a waste.

Fraternities are for asshole pathetic non-independent follow-the-crowd losers anyway. Went to college and saw the stupidity of all these morons.

Long live me.

Not sure what a family member's sins have to do with the individual in quesiton here, namely Rep. Meng. Someone please enlighten me.

Also, not sure what's the purpose of fraternities, Greek letters and hazing. I went to CCNY which has very few frats. I studied hard, graduated and avoided the silly parties.

hey if your whole family has no brains or common sense that's what you get
apple doesn't fall far from the tree

From what I've read, Meng's brother told them to hide anything that had the fraternity's name/Greek letters on it - I didn't see anything that said he told them not to call the police. But it will all come out at the trial.

What you learn in your family affects your behavior. The apples do not fall far from the tree, as has been said.
What lessons did Jimmy Meng learn at home from his father and mother in Taiwan?
What lessons did his son learn from Jimmy? What lessons did Grace learn from Jimmy?
The family "soil" breeds what grows. Maybe Grace hasn't been caught doing anything wrong....yet!

"The sins of the father are visited upon the sons".
An old Biblical reference, I believe.
Remember it was Grace, herself, that refused to accept the guilt of her father in his bribery attempt.
Nevertheless, the FBI caught him red handed.

Grace Meng is only interested in representing Chinese interests.
If you believe otherwise, you belong in Disneyland's "Fantasyland", wearing a Pluto costume.

There seems to be a very low morality standard in the Meng family.
That's what the "sins" have to do with it.
Maybe Grace is the craftier one and will learn to keep her nose clean.
Time will tell.
But she inherited a post held by one of the most skillful phonies in the business....Gary Ackerman.
He made all kinds of deals with the Chinese, Tommy Haung included.
Keep a close eye on Grace
and make sure that she does not follow in her family's footsteps of arrogance and thinking that they are above the law.

does anyone else find it creepy that Chinese people have five or six different names?

Note that the Chinese name is before the name he uses, Michael. They have three names and use variations of all of them. This is how they get over.

If you say please state your legal name, they scream discrimination, but they're the ones doing criminal acts.

The Italians have the mafia the Chinese have the Tong. Or as they say in NYC Chinatown, "the club".

Using different names makes them harder to trace....especially running down deeds of ownership to properties....or finding the principals of a particular business.

So many different names. That's why they don't file tax returns and never get caught.

Well they need the multiple names, one for "legal purposes"& one to collect government benefits. How do expect them to pay cash for 700,000 dollars houses, run a business and keep up with expenses. Only Caucasians are allowed to pay taxes and get lending from criminal banking "institutions". Oh the foolishness of some of the post here, lol.
