Why does it seem like Tony Avella is the only council member that fights for ordinary people - even those outside his district and boro?
While other council reps fight for foreign developers, take trips abroad, raise money for higher office, ban baseball bats, sing God Bless America and pass meaningless resolutions, this guy is out there doing the work of the entire council. He even refused the pay raise.
Is this elected Dudley-do-right too good to be true? I know he's running for mayor, but do you get the feeling he does actually care?
I unfortunately ran a campaign against him once, and I totally regretted it. He's a really nice guy, and seems to have no skeletons in his closet. I think that he's sincere for the most part, although there is no doubt that he enjoys the reputation he has garnered and is going to capitalize on it as he runs for mayor...
I view the political process as choosing the lesser among evils. While I could find a few things to dislike about pretty much anyone, this guy seems pretty clean. Especially when you compare him to his peers.
Hey, whatever that stuff is....oil or liquid vaseline....that's what politicos like the Staviskys have been using all these years to f--k their consituents up the "A"!

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt

"O-O-O-O-Ok-lahoma,
You're OK!"
If he'd cut the ties to the Stavisky's he'd be OK.
I forgot that he worked for the Stavisky's. Avella must know where the Stavisky's un-marked office is then.

He voted FOR waterfront development in Astoria. Those three 50 story Suna equity monsters - you know, the one that bans 'affordables' off site.
There was nothing on that waterfront anyways, and I don't mind having a nice skyline in queens... but I didn't know about the affordable issue(?!)
Has anyone ever been invited into the Stavisky's district office (other than, perhaps, crooked developers)?
I was always told to put our materials and documents through a mail slot!
What are they hiding?
