Attack of the drones!

From WPIX:

More concerns at JFK Airport after a series of midair drone sightings, making three over the weekend.

Two separate flight over JFK spotted drones flying too close for comfort on Friday, prompting warning’s from the Department of Homeland Security that would be terrorists could use drones to attack the public. Another was spotted Sunday near the Queens hub.

The concern among security officials is the possibility that recreational drones could dangerous side of the coin is the threat to commercial jetliners.

Senator Charles Schumer over the weekend called for tough FAA rules on drones, as well as geofencing software that could prohibit a done to fly higher than 500 feet, and keep it two miles away from any airport or sensitive area.

Both of those flights landed safely without having to take evasive action on Friday, and the drone sightings are being investigated by both the Port Authority and the FAA.

We already have plenty of drones at community boards political district offices following the commands of the Democratic county cabal.
Thank heaven they can't fly. Uh..except maybe Dromm and Van Bramer who have earned their wings.

I dunno how to feel about drones. On the one hand, people should be able to fly their own toys around if they want. On the other hand, it means a loss of some of the tiny bit of outdoor privacy we have left.

I was at Rockaway Beach and a drone was flying up and down the beach at about 12 feet over our heads.I thought it was a Police drone by the colors but I asked the lifeguard supervisor and he said it was just some guy that comes there regularly and it was legal as long as it didn't go above 1,000 feet and interfere with planes at JFK.
I don't like the fact that some jerk is flying a drone with five whirling blades over the head of my family, they could do some serious damage.
Also there was a guy with a large remote controlled helicopter in Elmhurst Park on July Fourth and here was kids running right near it as the blades was turning.I didn't see if it had flown but it too could have cut someone up pretty bad.
A couple years ago a guy got killed by his own helicopter in an area off the Belt Parkway.I wrote the Park's Dept. to find out what their policy is on drones and still haven't heard back.
