Not a smart move

From the Queens Courier:

A man attempting to cross the Long Island Expressway Saturday night was struck and killed by a car, police said.

The 34-year-old man was hit near exit 24 in Flushing at about 9:45 p.m. as he was trying to cross from south to north in the vicinity of 169th Street.

According to authorities, the pedestrian ran from the center wall of the expressway into the left travel lane and was struck by a Toyota Suburban. The driver attempted to brake and swerve to the right to avoid him.

Hmm, I think they meant to say "Chevrolet Suburban." - alfster

It's sad that the driver's life will never be the same after such stupid and selfish incident.

I hope that people recognize this for what it is: A silly man made a fatal decision to run across the LIE. This is not evidence of cars being dangerous or that we need to lower the speed limit.

NYS uses "Suburban" to describe bigger SUV's, so the registration could say TOY SUBN blah blah blah.

The guy should be nominated for a Darwin Award.

Did he have spray cans on him?

In keeping with mayor Wilhelm's "vision zero" it's obvious we need to lower the speed limit on the LIE and install speed bumps. Tis way even in the middle of the night there will be no modern travel speeds on the LIE.

This has been quite a month for idiots. I am also referring to the schmuck who tested for gas with a match a week ago.

The last time someone was this careless crossing a highway was Michael Griffith in Howard Beach 30 years ago, but at least he had a reason.

I'm not saying we should kill all the stupid people, I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out!

All of the progressives worship at the alter of Darwin, but scream for government to fix stupidity, and lack of self responsibility, and then cry when Darwinism plays out to its complete fruition.

Just ban all the cars and we will be safer!
