After 1 a.m. Wednesday, police discovered 25-year-old Jermain Gladimer shot dead in his basement apartment under a beauty salon on Jamaica Avenue in Queens Village, police said.
He was living in a store cellar?

Not a new occurrence, especially among immigrants. Many of those who own business don't earn enough after paying store rent to afford an apt of their own.
When I was a kid back in the 1960s we took laundry to a sweet Chinese man on east 81st St. One day the curtain that normally covered the back of his store was left open and you could see a bed, a sink and small furnishings. He was one of the nicest people I'd ever met, that store was his life.
very sad what has happened to QV.
Grew up there in the 50's and 60's. A very safe place. Used to walk past that location alone at the age of 8, going from FLB to almost Springfield Blvd.
The neighborhood had many WWII vets and cops and firemen who protected the community.
Now there are murders, prostitution and drugs.
Yes sometimes the old days were really good old days.
The violence has returned to shadyville. It's shady for a reason I guess. Sigh.
If Jermain had just gone out to the Night Out Against Crime, this never would have happened! Ahhhh, who am I kidding, of course it would have happened!
Maybe he was blogging anti Obama views and the DiBlasio Brown Shirts sent a hit squad?
