Queens Blvd trains are going to be delayed

From the Daily News:

Starting Monday, commuters will have to book extra time during their morning and evening train rides on weekdays through Sept. 4.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is cutting back service on the E, F, M and R lines for maintenance work on the express track.

Speeds on E and F express trains will have to slow to 10 mph through work zones. Meanwhile, some E and F trains will run local, meaning fewer M and R trains on that track each hour.

How about adding bus service to help out?

This is utterly amazing... What organization actually PLANS to make rush hour worse!! Especially when they cannot even get people to work on time without these planned delays?? How is this allowed to go on that such a clearly corrupt organization is allowed to run free with zero control over it??

How does this happen?! They are actually PLANNING to make rush hours WORSE! What kind of organization is allowed to run like this with ZERO oversight? Unbelievable.

Dan - Did you read why this is being done for a few weeks, while ridership is at its lowest?

Why during rush hours? Why not overnight?

It's nice that the F train runs express 24/7, but it makes a lot more sense to run it local overnight than disrupt rush hour.

So...driving is made more painful in order to encourage people to take public transportation...and then they reduce service on the public transit on the heels of a fare increase announcement? What time is the riot supposed to start?

Queens riders, your MTA subway commute rush hour hell will become even more hellish thru September 4th due to track work during YES, rush hour. Like your commute is not horrible enough. Brought to you by another asshole agency of this asshole city. This makes absolutely no sense, even during normal times, the subway commute is overcrowded and a mess. MTA and New York City, two completes assholes that go together well.

Add this major pain to the other pains, like late trains, slow trains, overcrowded trains, homeless subway cars, filthy dirty cars and people who have no idea that soap and deodorant were invented.

Queens Riders, tell MTA on their Facebook page what a major bunch of assholes they are for coming up with the brilliant ideal of doing track work during rush hour for three weeks. https://www.facebook.com/pages/MTA-New-York-City-Transit/232635164606?sk=reviews

This was announced on friday night at 8pm - purposely to avoid the news cycle, and so the MTA could say 'oh we announced that last week, didn't you get the memo'?

Playing politics with people's commutes is bullshit. If they warned people in advance, they could have planned alternate means.

Deferred maintenance, I'm told, related to the express F train that derailed under Northern Blvd not too long ago. There are temporary track panels in place, limiting speeds to 10 mph or forcing all local service, until they can shore up the track bed so it doesn't happen again. Still, I would rather they shut the whole thing down for a weekend (or two or three) like they are doing for the East River tunnels.

Regular transit riders should also follow Second Avenue Sagas for updates and in-depth discussion of how the MTA system got this way and how we might make it work a little better.

Why not put out some CitiBikes to help move some of the 750,000 Queens Blvd commuters? Or at least a few extra express buses...
