Park name change requested

From Bayside Patch:

Reverend Phillip Kim of Korean Presbyterian in Bayside recently filed a petition with the city asking to have the name of Marie Curie Park to "Marie Curie Playground," a move he says will make the area safer for the children who play there.

The park is used by children from the church, because they are located on opposing sides of the same street.

"It's my understanding that under the current situation, because it is a park, the area is open to the general public," Kim said.

But Kim would like to see the city officially name this public space a playground, which he said would make it subject to a stricter set of regulations, prohibiting any adults unaccompanied by children from entering.

"It's a problem because we've notice adults engaging in questionable behaviors in front of the children," Kim said.

I respectfully disagree: the "park" v. "Playground" designation does little to keep children safe - it is one of those rules that only impacts the people who follow the rules, not predators. So we get to pay for changing signage, tweak the Parks' web-site to change designation, etc. for what?

I live across the street from a "Playground" and that has never prevented any unaccompanied adult from sitting on the benches of the childrens' play area.

Even less likely is getting any Parks Dept. employee or the Police to ask the offender to leave.

Is this act not discrimination against the elderly, who must have seats in the park/playground. all adult elderly deserve the right to use these spaces.

if a predator is around the other adults will call the n.y.p.d., hopefully.

i take my visiting grandchildren to play basketball at a local playground converted to a sitting park. i coach them.

i also lobbied to have the gates unlocked for the community use, after school and summers.no $ was provided for the custodian to unlock this space by Planyc.

shoud i be banned from this space ?

i coached my daughter's teen cyo basketball team,in the 80's, at a local full court playground . am i to be ousted ? use common sense. watch your children at all times .

the predators are always connected ,in some legal way, to the youngsters. some are teachers, coaches, scout leaders, choir leaders, clergy & rabbis etc.

they are clever and manipulate the parents.

changing the facilities space name will not stop predators, only vigilant adults will.

You have got to be kidding me. Park to playground? How many thousands of dollars is that going to waste creating new signs, and updating all the city databases etc. We have no money lets try to not spend it on stupidity please.

You coached, you went to your childs games, you go to your grandchildrens games, sounds like you are with children so whats the issue?

Thousands of dollars for each Plannyc schoolyard to playground idea all to have the custodian unlock, and then cleanup in the morning, most of these "playgrounds" are rarely used anyway. When they are there is grafitti, garbage, used condoms and other crap the custodian has to clean up or have one of his guys come in early. How much money is being wasted on that project? Great advocating, while your intentions may have been honorable, it was and is a waste of taxpayer dollar.

Ask the custodian to show you the permits that need to be pulled in order to get paid by plannyc to maintain the area.

you custodians should be donating the time involved in unlocking the public park/playground gates, for the local teens to play sports.

how difficult to insert & turn a key ?

BTW, how much pay do you get from the taxpayers for this exerting task ?

Im not a Custodian, so lets not get this twisted. Why should the Custodian donate his time and energy to open and close the gates. His hours are probaly 7 to 4 PM, so if your "logic" were to work, He or She would have to wait around till what? 7PM to lock up , and according to you, not be paid for it, right? WRONG.

Why don't YOU donate time and money to pay for someone to do this task. While you are at it, pick up a broom, shovel, garbage bags, gloves, cleaning supplies, hook up a hose to your house for the occasional spillage, and semen that falls out of the condoms from the ones that sneak a quickie in the park. This way you pay for it all, instead of money, hell you can volunteer to do the labor yourself.

Lets get real.

the N.A.M.B.L.A deviates are reportedly lobbying for their illness to be legally accepted in the various state department of eductions in the U.S, constantly.

many years ago , a member of this deviate group actually ran a member as a candidate for the C.S.B 26 ,in N.E. Queens.

the N.Y.C. progressive D.O.E. is making progress in homosexual/transgender indoctrination social engineering presently.

how long before NAMBLA deviations becomes an acceptable course in public schools?

How long before people realize that NAMBLA is a mostly fictional organization with a handful of members (which is still too many)?

Have they ever had a rally or meeting?
