From the Daily News:
Former GOP honcho Vince Tabone has lawyered up -- and his new rep says the ex-operative will beat the bribery charges against him.
On the same day U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara raged against a pervasive corruption culture he said can only be changed through wholesale reform, Tabone's attorney called her client a "pillar" of his community who will be vindicated by the truth.
Tabone, former vice-chairman of the Queens County Republican Party, is charged with accepting payoffs to help state Sen. Malcolm Smith score a pass into the GOP mayoral primary while remaining a Democrat.
Lawyer Deborah Misir pushed back against characterizations of Tabone as a greedy, self-impressed hack in the wake of the federal case, which also resulted in charges against Smith, Queens City Councilman Dan Halloran, former Bronx GOP Chairman Jay Savino and the mayor and deputy mayor of Spring Valley.
Instead, she said, Tabone not only worked thousands of unpaid hours in the GOP's service, but has been a dedicated familiy man, active member of his church and loyal community servant.

Oh yes of course. I've seen him outside of both local churches with one of his children. Come to think of it, it was during the elections and he was handing out literature. Basically he was politically pimping out his child in front of a house of worship in order to get votes. After or before that? Nada! Niente! Nothing! Poof like a puff of air!
Stop the bullshit Vince. Remember frank Kenna ?
What a gavone!
Then there's that other one...Ragusa!
No wonder the GOP is down the toilet.
I can't wait to see this soft ass dish rag get ripped another one in the prison shower room!
Ten sausage sandwiches, without the peppers and onions, coming up!
RAGUSA MUST GO!!!
And the Padavan-Maltese cretins as well.
Out, out, out.
Now.
He had good intentions but the legal system corrupted him
He did as he was taught
His lawyer forgot to add sleaze ball to the list.
"Vince Tabone is an angel"
sans wings, a halo, and morals!!!
He's given his time, thousands of unpaid hours to his community. You "Patriots all" seem to be forgetting our "Bill of Rights"; A man is innocent until proven guilty. I am certain that in your lifetime you have never been accused of any indiscretion without an opportunity to defend yourself. Give the man his chance.
I agree except for the fact that this was all caught on wiretaps, so what could his defense possibly be?
Again..."Bill of Rights". We (at least I) haven't seen the evidence against him nor heard his defense. We need to let him have his day in court, just as we would ask for ourselves.
:) not posting my reply I see.
Actually, I posted both your reply and your impatient reply. What do you think I do, sit by the computer all day and wait for comments to moderate?
And the evidence against him was laid out in the complaint the day he was arrested, which I posted here for all to read. It said he patted down an informant to see if he had a wire, which he did, but he didn't find it. Whoooppppssss...
Oh leave Tabone alone you bullies! So what that he was caught on wiretaps trying to make a dishonest living. So what that he and his fellow Queens GOP cronies would shakedown every potential candidate. So what that he controlled Ragusa who certainly didn't have a clue how to run the party. Tabone still worked hard not Ike that awful Eric Ulrich who didn't see my hidden talents.
So then I assume that you were in court, were privileged to the evidence, heard the defense and "judged" him guilty prior to the trial. :)
Since it is apparent that you aren't familiar with our constitution and bill of rights, I've provided a link for you. Enjoy and please get educated.

He may not have seen your hidden talents, Dwarfie, but he sure found out about your online proclivities. Heh.
Familiar with the bill of rights, thanks. I guess you can't read. I asked what his possible defense could be when there are wiretaps that caught him taking bribes.
He's a dead duck. There IS no defense. He'll cut a deal and stab his buddies in the back in return for community service and a fine.
i agree that these betrayers of the public trust are possibly on their way to prison, to join the many other politicians from N.Y.C. in the past 30 years. but why isn't Q.C.detailing the identity of the "CW" Moses Stern from Monsey ,N.Y.?
as radio host, paul harvey used to say "tell us the rest of the story".
One can informally discuss alleged criminal activity without adhering to the "innocent until proven guilty" clause in the Bill of Rights. That applies to legal procedures, not discussions. I think Mr. Tabone is going to have a mighty hard time explaining this one away, especially since he showed he knew what he was doing was wrong when he patted the guy down looking for a wire.
Why would I care about Moses Stern? He got his own ass in trouble and cut a deal which took down these schmucks. They in turn will likely do the same. Moses Stern may be crooked, but he is not an elected official or representative of a political party.
GUILTY...GUILY...GUILTY!
Recordings made by FBI agents don't lie!
Tabone got caught with his bone out...
pissing on the rug!
CASE CLOSED!
It's time for Vince to find his spot in the jail house pecking order. Or is it "pecker" order?
The daisy chain lines up in the shower room.
An angel?
He looks more like a fat fairy without wings.
Imagine the wing spread required, to get that big lump off the ground?
Deborah Misir, the attorney, representing Vince Tabor has an impressive resume.

Wasn't Vito Palmieri representing him?
So she'll cut him a better deal.
Lally & Misir, LLP successfully represent Bob Turner in historic win for U.S.Congress
Which would be relevant if Tabone was running for office, but he's under federal indictment.
Piety must corrupt decadence whic disrespects order, police, foetae and marriage
Anon No. 29:
Say that again in English, please? And what is "foetae"?
His new lawyer described Tabone as an unpaid GOP volunteer who contributed his time without pay to the party. I think her strategy here is to present Tabone as a person who never received any monetary compensation for his involvement with politics, who, as an executive board member,is not actually an elected official unlike Halloran or Malcolm Smith, who are. "My client is not a real elected official!" she argued. I predict 18 months in federal prison, similar to what Assemblywoman Gloria Davis received a year or two ago.
all i want is for this jerk to get served a cock meat sandwich right in the mouth every day he spends in jail.
then when he eventually gets out he can use his new found skills on the "dwarf".
If the Fed's case is anything like what I read in the paper and the (online) complaint, both Tabone and Bronx Chair Savino will walk scott free. Title 18 does not cover party officials and in Tabone's case, as Vice Chair he could not sell a signature (Wilson-Pakula) that was not his own.
Also, it is clear the Feds were trying to get RICO applied (where everyone is guilty of conspiracy). Having failed at that, the rest of their case will fall apart.
Now the real estate case against Smith and the member item issues with Halloran are a different matter would seem to be a lot harder to dodge.
But it is good to know that the Feds are going after the GOP bosses since they wield soooooo much power and patronage here in NYC. Funny how few in the Dem party machine ever are called to account.
funny how mean people are under the blanket of anonymity. even if he is guilty, all he (supposedly) did was accept an amount of cash from a third party, why hate him so much for that?
Tabone was a phony from day 1. He along with the debunked Frank Kenna Republican Club had been do nothing's and thieves. Tabone used to raise cash In His house collected in fish bowls for his assembly runs. He was as bad as his rotten teeth and stinky suit. He proved to be a first class wannabe gangster by repeating the line, he is a pebble in my shoe from one of the mafia movies he fancied. He is a disgusting human being who, lied and cheated the people of this city. Tabone wears an American flag lapel pun and thinks he is fooling everyone. He never did. He should be wearing numbers and a dunce cap.
Wow, I wonder if Tabone will cut a deal in light of Halloran being found guilty. I think problem with Halloran was that he was broke because of divorce and just lost his way. Tabone, no excuse.
Tabone has a law license and kids. I wonder if he will cut a deal.
