Newtown Creek may get Superfund status

From the Daily News:

Federal officials are considering adding Greenpoint's polluted Newtown Creek to the Superfund list, Brooklyn News has learned.

Environmental Protection officials in Washington began tests on the creek in January and finished about two weeks ago after state officials asked for the creek to be added to the list.

Newtown Creek was apparently tested around the same time as the Gowanus Canal - which federal officials announced last week they want to add to the Superfund list.

Yeah! We can build all sorts of schools and give land away to build tall condos for housing projects!

If the water catches fire does that count?

I heard Blumturd dumped all the term limit ballots in here to hide them.

Their rot is making quite the stink. A lot more than the public.

Brilliant commentary, all!
Once again, QC has brought out the best in the city's loonies.

If you think we are all loony, why don't you take a refreshing dip in Newton Creek.

Equally non-productive. Good work!

Perhaps for you, but then you would be dead and not around to insult your betters.
