Buying the party out from under Thompson

From the NY Observer:

According to the campaign, the coming month will be punctuated by crushingly regular announcements of endorsements representing an array of once reliably Democratic constituencies: unions; black, Latino and Jewish clergy; black and Latino elected officials; progressive civic groups.

The goal is to realign the Democratic establishment in the mayor’s favor and mitigate—obliterate, really—the significance of the obligatory, half-hearted endorsements of Mr. Thompson to come, late and unenthusiastically, from Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and David Paterson.

“We work everybody,” said the senior campaign official.

There is a pattern here, as the manifestation of support for Mr. Bloomberg from Democratic officials follows the wholesale co-optation by the mayor of the bulk of the city’s Democratic political talent, helped by the lure of handsome salaries and garish bonuses after the mission is accomplished.

When I was a little kid I never thought the boogeyman would be in the form of a short grinch like creature, wearing thousand dollar suits and munching on popcorn. Sometimes life really is surprising. In any case, I am now genuinely, completely terrified of the boogeyman....

Bill Thompson ought to get his ass in gear. The average zhlub citizen doesn't even know who he is. Bloomberg's puss is all over the place. (Just saw him on the Charlie Rose show talking about his green initiatives.)

I cringe when I see those TV ads that portray Bloomie as Joe Everyman. "I hear it when I take the subway. I hear it when I walk the streets and neighborhoods." What a crock of you-know-what. When was the last time this guy rode the subway? Who's eating up all this horsesh*t?

Then there's that other one in which he says how NYC is becoming inaffordable to the middle class. Oh, really? And why is that, I wonder?

And don't fall for that faux altruistic "I'm apolitical" and "I'm taking just $1 a year salary" crap.

Where is Carmine DeSapio when we need him.

You'll get Bloomberg for 4 more years ONLY IF YOU VOTE FOR HIM!

But the dumber the voting public becomes, the quicker we relinquish democracy.

In the end, there will be no need for some foreign conqueror to sweep down upon us and steal our human rights from us.

We'll just hand them over with a smile and a bow!

NO THIRD TERM FOR THIS DESPOT!

Bill Thompson has as much charisma as a snail.

That's the real underlying problem.

Even a wealthy brat like Bloomberg can come off looking like a live wire by comparison!

F--K 'em all!

VOTE FOR TONY AVELLA!

You want to be rid of the corruption and stupidity?

You want the Commissar out of your life, you wallet and your pantry?

You want food with flavor again?

You want overdevelopment out of your neighborhood?

You want your property value to be stable?

You want to tell these scum what you think without them daring to sic the police on you?

You want your property kept from the Commissar's grasping, greedy hands?

You want control?

Use November 3 to dump all the scum who want to be your nanny!

Use November 3 to show some self respect!

Of all the businesses this Mayor has conquered, politics is the easiest. As we are seeing most of the opposition will gladly bend over for trinkets and acclaims. He will easily buy himself a third term as Mayor. Even those who carry his petitions to be on the ballot have no dignity.

YOU'VE GOT A CHANCE FOR SOME REAL CHANGE....VOTE FOR AVELLA!

Some might dismiss him an underdog.

But he's certainly not a demagogue!

And he's gaining fast.

People have become simply fed up with developers'candidates!

SHOW SOME SPINE AND CAST YOUR BALLOT TONY'S WAY!

That shot of Bloomberg speaks volumes:

"I'm trying to come off like an every day Joe (I hate popcorn...gives me gas) but still nobody seems to like me very much besides my swell friends. I don't understand why?"

God forbid the Scumbag Billionaire, er, Joe Everyman (until Nov. 3) should have choked on that popcorn. Could you imagine the stampede of his lackeys to give him the Heimlich Maneuver?
