Community Board 5 approved a plan last week to reconstruct Eliot Avenue in Middle Village and Maspeth that would shut down a portion of the roadway for two months with around-the-clock construction.
...opponents contended that closing Eliot Avenue would only exacerbate gridlock elsewhere by diverting traffic to congested Metropolitan and Grand avenues.

Watch the stupidity that occurs when a driver is stuck behind a slow moving truck and realizes that he/she has lost 20-30 minutes and decides to catch up.
