Hmmm...Free?? If I'd known that I would have gotten one myself last year. Otherwise its just another illegal waste of my tax money.
It was a fucking data mining scam from the outset.
That NYC ID card is a joke.
Many buildings, with high security concerns, do not recognize it either.
LOL!
Can you just imagine borough president Melinda Katyz offering us a Queens ID card?
That would make us the laughing stock of New York City!
P.S.
I'd rather pay to enter the far away Brooklyn Musem...truly a world class spot...than get free admittance to the laughable Queens Musem.
Queens is only good (particulary the northeast) as a fine residential borough.
It is still a cultural desert compared with Manhattan or Brooklyn.
It's politicians are equally ignorant and lacking in imaginative gray matter.
My crash pad is in Queens, a bedroom borough. When I want to feast on culture, I go the the golden isle, Manhattan or Brooklyn.
I admit I cannot afford to live in Manhattan, but am seriously considering a move to Brooklyn.

What's the real reason museums are backing out? Hmmmm?
Well no shit !
One reason is its was costing a FORTUNE in damage.
The people who had these cards were coming in with mobs of wild undisciplined kids who think museum display objects are playground pieces including using parts of staircases & rooms as a toilets (as adults payed no mind).
These cards are also going to be useless because progressive democrats like the Mayor, Governor and Chuck Schumer want all the database hard drives retried and destroyed before Trump takes office and replace the cars with municipal "guest" driver "no-name numbers" that allow illegals to vote in NYC. No background checks, verification. NOTHING but a simple road test !!
Go to the Hall Of Science at any given time and have a look. You have this huge cafeteria with kids eating sugars and assorted garbage. And 100s more at any given time running around not interested in ANYTHING but behaving like hyped monkeys on amphetamine. The Asian & normal kids interested in learning something cant even hear the recordings, films and teachers due to the chaos.
I worked on the Mercury capsule & rocket restoration years back, and even then city museums (like library's) were turning to shit. They added a 500 million dollar wing a couple of displays and perhaps 100 "cubby" rooms with instructors having kids do fingerprint and gluing construction paper & Styrofoam to make dolls and things.
Its nothing like what we experienced on school trip as kids in the 60's and 70's. The scene is indescribable . Picture black Friday at Walmart or somebody tossing 100 bills on the floors then opening the gates EVERY DAY !!

Foreign passports; out of state birth certificates; utility bills, etc.
They took out the Guggenheim and the Botanical Garden, but replaced them with the equally popular Museum of Gravel and the International Paint Chip Movie Festival
I joined the NYC ID program just for all the free admissions.
Also I now have a 5 borough NYC Public Library card.
