Machine membership has its privileges

"Last summer, I heard that Gordon Ramsay was going to film a show at a Greek restaurant in my neighborhood called Kati Allo on Francis Lewis Boulevard near 29th Avenue. I go to the excellent Italian place at the corner that opened a few years ago - Capriccio - fairly often but have never been to the Greek place. Kitchen Nightmares actually had an application for local residents who wanted to try the restaurant before and after it would change, so I filled one out. I was not picked, but take a look who was: former Councilmember / current Deputy BP Leroy Comrie who represented Jamaica/Hollis/St. Albans and Councilmember Ruben Wills who currently represents South Jamaica/South Ozone Park.
I guess I wasn't politically connected enough to the Queens Machine to make the cut."

In NYC the "paperwork" handed around the neighborhood was just for show. SAG card holding extras and politicians are always selected first, ALWAYS in the "pit" or front rows of shows like SNL, Fallen etc.
The Mayors office and Queens machine supply's all the permits, special parking, accommodation's, catering, etc. All selected must be on the "Mayors List" to get the tax incentives and avoid any "red tape surprises" that can suddenly shut your production down costing a fortune.
Its like paying the mafia for protection only money doesn't exchange hands. One reason you'll never view a TV news clip with a reporter bad mouthing or "calling out" the NYC or Los Angeles mayor. ---Instant suspension or termination !!
BTW the same bullshit goes on with the local pols & with the USTA every year. Now instead of actual tickets with seat numbers passing hands. A VIP "guest list" issues special VIP credentials at will when somebody simply shows up "around back"

Politicians are always looking for handouts. They are born freeloaders and taking a check from taxpayers for doing nothing is no different.

Don't complain, by continuing to reelect these creeps we've allowed them to lord over us not represent us

Comrie's appetite will cost that guy.

That's Marcia Moxam Comrie, Leroy's wife, sitting next to him. She's an associate editor at the Queens Tribune/Press of Southeast Queens. She runs her mouth off every week in a column in the Press. Never once has she written anything about the fact that her employer, Michael Nussbaum, promotes prostitution by publishing whore ads in the Tribune. She yaps and yaps about everything else but never about this.

How come, Marcia?

Wow, two of the most useless elected officials around, Comrie and Wills. What a joke.

And full-time P.R. person at York College in Jamaica.

Comrie and Wills just wanted to get away from all the garbage in Jamaica - it's actually hard work ignoring all of the problems in SE Queens.

If they all got hepatitis C from a vibrant, diverse, and undocumented member of the kitchen staff, would that be considered irony or coincidence?

I guess the photographer didn't have a wide-angle lens, so unfortunately Leroy Comrie couldn't fit in the photo.

That's right. Check it out HERE. Do you students at York College and President Marcia Keizs know that one of your staff members works for a publication that promotes prostitution: the Queens Tribune? Will Pandora's Box, the York College student newspaper, ever run an investigation of this affiliation? On this abuse of women countenanced by her deafening silence by York employee Moxam Comrie? Are you reading this, Joseph Darius Jaafari, editor of said newspaper?

And does York's Journalism Program teach budding journalists about how a newspaper can survive at the expense of women? Or the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism? Someone needs a refresher course on journalism ethics.

I knew those bozo's looked familiar. Go eat in your own district as a matter of fact you should have a show about revitalizing and renovating your own district's, starting with the leaders.

Does the restaurant have to declare the cost of meals served to the politicians as campaign contributions

If so the owner could be prosecuted for exceeding campaign limits on the cost of corpulent Comrie's meal.

No wonder none of the neighbors were invited. We might come back! The place is still empty.

After seeing the ness in their refrigerators and freezers, I'm spraying away from this place! And what was that bit about food being dumb-waitered from the basement? Disgusting!

Bayside does not have "ONE" decent restaurant.

What a disgrace. As a Bayside resident, I am embarrassed. My wife actually saw the request for local diners and submitted an application. What a joke. Thanks Queens Crap for exposing this nepotism. Screw them all, and screw us for either electing them, not voting, or standing by idly while Queens goes to sh*t. I wish I could raise my kids here. I can't afford too, nor do I want to.
