Shots fired at Steinway Street pool hall

From the Queens Gazette:

A fight between patrons at an Astoria pool hall turned violent on April 9 when one of the men pulled a gun and fired several rounds, striking the second patron.

Law enforcement sources said the scene at the Racks billiard hall at 19-25 Steinway Street erupted in chaos at about 3 a.m. when shots were fired.

Police have no sure motive for the dispute, but club patrons said the fight started over a woman who had dated both men.

The shooting took place as members of the St. John’s University men’s and women’s basketball teams celebrated a birthday party at the pool hall. Team members fled the scene when the shots rang out, law enforcement sources said.

Will till Mr Public Saftey's new zoning plan has 7 story barracks lining the elevated.

Its already gang turf.

Someday you will not be able to ride - or dive - on that zone. Will make Roosevelt look like a stroll through a park.

If you can't be safe at a pool hall at 3 a.m. in Queens, where can you be safe?

Why, sure, I'm a billiard player, certainly mighty proud. I say I'm always mighty proud to say it. I consider the hours I spend with a cue in my hand are golden ... Help you cultivate horse sense and a cool head and a keen eye ... Do you ever take and try to find an iron clad leave to yourself from a three-rail billiard shot?
