Does this cab remind you of Cathie Black?

From the Queens Ledger:

In selecting Nissan as the winner of its Taxi of Tomorrow contest, instead of a Turkish car maker proposing a wheelchair-accessible cab made at an auto plant in Brooklyn, the city demonstrated a gross lack of respect for the disabled and threw hundreds of good-paying jobs out the window.

The baffling choice drew ready comparisons to the Bloomberg Administration's last bone-headed decision; as one disgruntled online commenter observed, Nissan's proposal represented “the Cathie Black of taxis.”

Really, what was the city thinking?

Choosing luxury and aesthetics over basic rights for the disadvantaged was morally wrong and reprehensible.

But who are we kidding? Mayor Michael Bloomberg does this all the time.

Yup. So remind us why your paper endorsed him?

Let's not overlook:

"We support the efforts of Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and other officials who are calling for an investigation into possible conflicts of interest in the request for proposals process that led to Nissan's selection.

A separate inquiry into whether or not the choice violated the Americans With Disabilities Act should also be pursued. If there's one thing the Black debacle taught us, it's that the administration's careless, insensitive decisions can be reversed."

Or this---

"Karsan committed to building the cars in a Brooklyn auto plant that would have generated hundreds of solid union jobs. Nissan plans to build its vans, which will replace the city's entire fleet in coming years, at a cost of $1 billion, elsewhere in the country."

"The New York Daily News and The New York Times reported Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Assemblyman Micah Kellner and Public Advocate Bill DiBlasio have already called on city Comptroller John Liu to investigate the selection process, alleging a possible conflict of interest."

It just keeps getting better and better!

Don't put much faith in criminal developer Tommy Huang's cousin Comptroller John Liu.

He'll probably want the new cabs to be built in Taiwan!

And Liu's father (Joseph) is a convicted felon...on federal bank fraud charges (Flushing's "Great Eastern Bank").

We're screwed!

If DiBlasio really wanted to do his job, he'd start impeachment proceedings 'cause we gotta dump Bloomtard NOW before he does any more damage.

No - it's the cost of a metrocard.

And if i remember, its something like a $40 cost per trip for the $2.25 they collect from the rider.

Hopefully, with all the cost going into installing elevators in the subways and the newer low-profile buses, we wont have to waste money on the accessaride any more.

Sniff! Sniff! Asshole troll! I'll bet you don't even know what services are provided by Access-A Ride!!! Not every subway or bus route can serve the disabled!

Leave it to trolls to divert attention away from the corruption that this article points out! Notice how they try to get everyone off topic.
