Nurse dumped elderly patient on the floor

'Wheelchair assault' rap
By WILLIAM J. GORTA and JESSICA SIMEONE, NY Post

A Queens nurse dumped an elderly patient out of a wheelchair and left the woman writhing on the floor with a broken hip, authorities said yesterday.

Jessie Joiner, 56, also swiped two dozen painkillers the same night she knocked Jane Bills to the floor, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said.

Officials at the William O. Benenson Rehabilitation Center in Flushing reported Joiner to the state after reviewing video of the March 20 incident captured via a hallway surveillance camera, Cuomo said.

"We expect nursing homes to be staffed with professionals who will provide dependable and compassionate care for our loved ones," Cuomo said.

A hospital spokesman said the 302-bed Benenson Center enjoys a sterling reputation -- including a four-star government rating -- and called Joiner's alleged actions unacceptable.

Outside court after her arraignment yesterday, Joiner, who lives in Jamaica, wailed "I didn't do it! I didn't do it!"

She faces up to seven years in prison.

Right, she didn't do it. It's all a made up conspiracy against her to waste thousands in tax payer's money and everyone's time. She's a pillhead.

Indeed, Anon#1. Your impeccable illogic is all we need to determine guilt in this case.

My late mother had home attendant care before she died at the age of 92. I personally witnessed the afternoon attendant showing the evening attendant how to move a patient in the bed while changing the sheets. They both lifted mom and accidentally bonked her head against the wall as they were lifting. Of course, a sheepish grin on their faces. That's what I saw while I was there. I'm glad I didn't see the things that happened when I wasn't there.

Bottom line. We're all going to shuffle off the mortal coil. Some with dignity. Some without. Get used to it. Andrew Cuomo or no Andrew Cuomo.

Did yall know she has been a nurse for 39 years. Who wakes up after 39 years and decides to throw their career away in these times. why did they release her same day with no bail. This happened a month ago, if you have video, why did they wait so long and why do they allow her to continue to work. Do your research people... its a cover up

She became a nurse when she was 17?

I heard their was no cops involved, she never spoke to the post paper and she was never charged with anything. And she is still a nurse. That comment before me is right. Who wakes up after 39 years of nursing and decides to throw it all away....and for what. And do it all on camera, yes that sounds smart

Well back in the 70's. When in nursing school, that was considered working experience. After graduation. You go right into working. I read she has a daughter and she is 34. And she was already a nurse

This story is so sad, for everyone. I feel for nurse Joiner, this woman is not well, she needs help opening a jar of peanut butter, how in the world can she lift a wheel chair. I also read she needs back surgery. how can she lift a chair

Why is she allowed to work if she is too infirm to open a freakin' peanut butter jar? Nursing is physically demanding.

All I can say is, when the truth comes out, I hope she sues everylast one of you who printed this crap. News papers, news stations, web sites even cuomo and the nursing home. God be with you nurse Joiner!!!!

She can't sue the media for reporting an arrest.

Obviouslly, if she is still working that means she have bills right, not everyone can lay around the house all day and play on the computer. Just get your facts right people

After all this no body asked why the nursing home took so long to seek help for the patient, yall know its a lie for nurse Joiner to leave a patient on the floor with cameras around. After the nurse reported it to her supervisor, the supervisor did nothing but put that poor old lady in a chair and let her suffer until the doctor got there. And they still took 4 days to do surgery. i pray for you all. yall need Jesus!!!
