Queens - complain, complain, complain - me, me, me, me - I, I. I. I.

Voted out one good Mayor because of snow - Lets try for another one and then we can also elect some more corrupt Queens candidates while we are at it.

I'm a Queens Guy and I remember the January 1969 storm-- it was great fun-- I was a kid! The snow will be removed. It will take time. The side streets are packed with cars. Everyone just needs to relax and get out of the way of the plow trucks.

They never had this kind of problem in Moscow where they know how to deal with this kind of stuff. Yet here in comrade Duh Blasio's socialist city , they cannot even keep the fucking streets cleared. Oh well, maybe it is our fault for choosing to live in such a suburban borough.
We are ignored for everything. The boondocks always get the worst services. Now, I'll bet Manhattan's tourist corridor gets primo service PDQ!
Google the Mayor Lindsay snow storm debacle coverage in the 1960s. The failure of hizzoner then to clear Queens' streets after a blizzard cost him re-election. Take note Mayor Duh Bah-Blah! Your political days are numbered.

One might wonder if they initially worked so hard on the other boroughs, and when they got to Queens they were in too "deep".

Or just a slowdown and a search for more overtime...

Somehow the resources were found to dig out Citibikes!

Be interesting to see how much money was lost on that program this month.

Narrow streets with cars on both sides. Can only payload it out.

No! Me! Me! Me!

I don't know who's fault it is - whether it's the Sanitation Commissioner, or individual drivers, or it's just too much snow and will take more time. But the side streets in Queens are awful, and many are impassable. Even the main roads, like Francis Lewis Blvd, which are supposed to be two lanes were only one lane last night - didn't try it today.

I obey the law and pile my snow in great piles next to the curb. I shovel my driveway and do the same with the snow.

Last night I had two seven foot piles on each side of the driveway. This morning I woke up and discovered that I had one big pile three feet high across my driveway thanks to the Department of Sanitation genius plow drivers.

From now on I do what many others do, screw the regulations! I'll throw the freakin' snow into the middle of the street and let someone else worry about it.

add Glendale. One day before the blizzard, the Sanitation failed to pick up the trash. There was no snow in that particular day and yet. As for snow... It is the same story every year..Incompetent public employees, incompetent mayor

Since when did snow emergency routes become double parking zones?

Strongly believe the only cure to this kind of problem is for each borough to become a city unto itself. Local government is more accountable to the governed.

According to the NYC Ad Code Section 16-124.1(6)(b):

b. Beginning on November fifteenth, 2011, and on every November
fifteenth thereafter, the commissioner shall submit to the council and
make available to the public on the city's website a snow plowing and
removal plan for each borough that shall include, but not be limited to,
the following:

(4) How the department plans to address the following types of tasks
during a snow event: (i) plowing and/or removal of snow and ice from
streets within each borough; (ii) plowing and/or removal of snow and ice
from curb cuts and pedestrian medians at intersections on primary
streets; (iii) plowing and/or removal of snow and ice from crosswalks,
sidewalks adjacent to parks and bus stops; and (iv) dispersal of salt,
sand or other material applied to roads in icy or snowy conditions; and
(5) The commissioner shall designate and identify the following: (i)
the borough chief or chiefs who will be responsible for the
implementation of the applicable borough-specific snow plan; (ii)
department personnel who will report to the office of emergency
management on a city-wide basis during snow events and who will be
directly responsible for communicating with such office and the
department; and (iii) personnel from the department's customer service
and government relations offices who will communicate on a
borough-by-borough basis with council members, community boards and the
borough presidents in order to provide, receive and respond to
information from such elected officials and community boards regarding
snow event conditions.

So the City was supposed to have a plan for snow removal in all boroughs as required by law. Did they make the plan? If so, why are they acting so surprised by the number of streets in Queens? The law designates specific people who were supposed to communicate with council members, etc in each borough during this event. Did that happen? If so, again...why the surprise about snow conditions? The plan is supposed to include shoveling at bus stops/shelters and adjacent to parks. That was not done and it doesn't seem like anybody is working on it in any parts of Queens. Write to your council members and cite the law. Ask why they aren't adhering to it. That's what I'll be doing.

These progressive liberals can't handle snow.
How are they going to solve more complicated issues?

Are there still snow emergency streets? I remember seeing those signs years ago, but they all disappeared at one point. But it's common sense - if there's going to be a snow storm, you can't park on certain major streets so that they can be plowed and we can all go on with our lives. Yet you'll see cars buried under mountains of snow along Francis Lewis Blvd, Utopia Pkwy, etc.

And WHY were schools open today? The only thing that happened was the showing of movies to the few students that showed up. Meanwhile, getting to and from school was an absolutely miserable and dangerous proposition. One teacher I know got her car stuck in the deep snow which was all around the school. Dumblasio strikes again! Moron!

Do schools still have to stay open so they can get NYS money?

The city has closed schools when there was a threat of snow in the past. This time we had a record snowfall and the schools were open. How are kids, teachers and buses going to get there when the streets weren't even plowed.63 street in Maspeth didn.t see a plow until 12:30 Am Monday night.
Maybe this will guarantee the mayor will be a one term mayor,I hope

In Manhattan they have both huge loaders and modern plows that suck up the snow and conveyor it into a huge rear hoppers heated with propane tanks. A pipe then dumps it as water straight into the sewer at the next corner. A TV crew was just stopped by the cops from filming this by the dept of health and social services (welfare) building on Worth Street
.

Why is 1920s push plow technology being used in Queens during an emergency like this ?
Why is the mayor being "protected" from news people ?
What if somebody has a heart attack and cant be taken to a hospital ?

For the same reason illegal businesses, constructions and pretty much everything else is allowed.

Why is the mayor being "protected" from news people ?

Because they are progressive liberals - all of them.
Call it professional courtesy!

What if somebody has a heart attack and cant be taken to a hospital ?

Now that's their problem. Too bad.
What makes you think that they even consider the useless eaters and their health problems?

Dig out Citi Bikes?
They should have replaced them with Citi Sleds!

My Q28 bus is running but nobody dug out the bus stops.
So I either have to climb over a four foot wall of snow to board the bus ....or run to the corner.... walk in the middle of the street ...and hope to board the bus before it pulls out ...or I get hit by a skidding car.
Thank you Duh Blasio. Thank you Don Paulo Vallone. Thank you community bored seven, DOT, MTA, DSNY and the cast of other incompetents!

Wassup with the Sanitation Dept.? The trucks have GPS, but the plows don't have a sensor that transmits when they are down or up.
I have seen a bunch of trucks in Queens with their plows in an upright position.
Is that the new standard?
Can anybody, any city official explain what the FUCK is going on here?
Do they have a wage, benefit, etc dispute?
If yes, why is revenge taken on the innocent population?
Hello! Are u fools listening?

Now who the hell is using 20th century transportation?
Haven't you heard, now is teleportation, quantum mechanics, UFO-s are the trend:):)
Or if you like bikes! So they poor population can pedal in the snow and ice.
Good exercise. Freezing and heart attacks are included for free.
