Illegal conversions happen in NJ, too

NEWARK (WABC) -- Two Newark men were badly burned when fire broke out in their basement apartment, which may have been illegally converted.

Eyewitness News is told the men were pulled from the basement apartment on Pacific Street just after 2:30 a.m. Christmas morning.

Both were badly burned.

Officials say they were rushed to the burn unit at St. Barnabas Medical Center in West Orange in critical condition.

The men were reportedly living in the basement apartment, which investigators suspect was illegally converted.

Other residents of the house, including two children, were treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire was quickly put out and the fire is under investigation.

Whoo Hoo

Lets all give thanks for the Idiot Morons who thought they could get RICH on flipping houses, getting $100,00 Cash back at closing

Using their Homes as an ATM to buy a boob job for the saggy wifey.

Yes be proud of being a Moron, and having to make illegal apartments to pay the sky high mortgage

Sure they are in NJ too. They vie to come to NYC where they are more welcomed and receive much more from us. They only need to save for the black car limo ride over - to collect from us in style!

With the present economy I don't see any chance of improvment. Actually it will get worse.
