Joe Crowley keeps his campaign money in the family

From the NY Post:

Rep. Joseph Crowley, who serves as Queens Democratic leader, is using campaign funds to rent office space in a family-owned property outside his district, records show.

Crowley has paid at least $69,700 since 2007 to Killean Enterprises LLC, which is controlled by his brother, lobbyist John “Sean” Crowley.

As chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Joseph Crowley is the fourth-highest ranking member of his party in the House.

“This, without a doubt, raises red flags about conflicts of interest,” said John Kaehny, chairman of the NYC Transparency Working Group.

“As an important public official, you want to be above suspicion, not raising suspicion.”

The campaign office in Elmhurst is about 10 blocks outside Crowley’s congressional district.

But as party boss, he already has space at Queens Democratic headquarters in Forest Hills three miles from the Elmhurst office.

“It’s not physically in his district — that would be a key point,” said Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center. “What he uses it for — it’s as old as politics — it’s called a slush fund. And what do you know? It goes to a family-connected entity.”

The Elmhurst address is also home to Crowley & Kaufman, the law firm of Crowley’s campaign treasurer, Scott Kaufman, an attorney who since 2006 has raked in at least $550,000 in fees via appointments from Queens Surrogate’s Court.

Joe ran away from reporters asking questions about this.

It's about time – we the voters – finally rid ourselves from the Corrupt Crowley Clan!

I say this isn't really worth the time: $69,700 since 2007? what is that, a bit more than $500/month?

There are far more egregious failures to spend time on...

Who should be investigating him? Queens D.A. Brown?

I think if the president of the United States rented his own private property back to the government so that the president could conduct business on his own property , and make money off of doing that....we'd all be pissed.

Notice this quote, from the spokesperson. Setting up the DeBlaz defense. A lawyer send it was OK, so no harm no foul. Next up the Hillary defense. "there was no intent".

Keep falling for it serfs!

To second Anonymous: Would YOU like to get an extra $500 a month without punishment and censure for your graft, complicity and lawlessness? There is no such thing as corruption that is too small to investigate, just like there must NEVER AGAIN be a 'Too Big To Fail' edict that nearly collapsed our global marketplaces in 2008. Remember THAT debacle for which 'O-BOMB-A' bailed out ALL of his crooked, Wall-mart Street pals, all of whom acquired BOTH of his 300% false, fake and failed elections?

Facing reality requires that NO corruption, graft and greed ever be openly practiced, much less condoned, when it is We, The Taxpayer shelling out obscene (and ever climbing) taxes, whilst STILL being at the mercy of all taxation without representation.

It's 'look the other way' attitudes like yours that reinforces all corrupt, political brazeness in the FIRST PLACE——and, the public be damned (again and STILL)!

"Don't worry Jake, it's just Crowleytown".

No matter what he does, the sheeple of Queens will keep on voting for him. He just ran and was re-elected by a landslide. He lives in Virginia, because the schools are better and he wants a better quality of life for his family, yet he represents Queens. Isn't there a residency law? Oh, I forgot -- he uses his mother's address on 65th street in Woodside as his address. No matter what these politicians do, they slide because the laws don't apply to them. Keep voting these criminals in people. You get the government you deserve.
