Ron Kim's wife is challenging Peter Koo

From the Times Ledger:

Alison Tan, wife of Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Flushing), surprised many when she announced her run for City Council at Community Board 7’s May meeting.

The managing director of Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group has no political experience, but plans to challenge two-term Councilman Peter Koo (D-Flushing) in the September primaries. She has listed quality-of-life issues as her main platform.

The 20th District covers Flushing, Auburndale and part of Whitestone.

Tan has lived in Flushing with her husband for six years. She said raising two daughters in the area inspired her to run and fix issues she believes Koo won’t address.

“I have friends who have had to move out of the district because living here is unbearable,” she said in an interview with TimesLedger Newspapers. “Koo is not a strong advocate, Koo doesn’t fight for quality-of-life issues. Our district deserves better. All you have to do is look around us and you can see how he failed. He’s been councilman for eight years, and what do we have to show for it? Flushing is more polluted than ever, we don’t have the resources to survive, we deserve a better public advocate in City Hall.”

As for Koo, he has welcomed the competition from Tan and said he has been endorsed by her husband.

Tan said working in the private sector as a manager has prepared her for City Council. Tan was responsible for billions of dollars in development and was held accountable for her performance.

The Ackman-Ziff website says Tan has handled over $7 billion in commercial real estate capital market transactions.

Learning from the Clinton crime family.

How soon until they start a "Charitable non Profit" ???

Good for her...all incumbents should be challenged, although challengers will have tough time raising funds.

Parasites. All of them.

Flushing and Southeast Queens tend to have competitive primaries, because that's where the County Democratic Organization is the weakest and where insurgent candidates stand a chance.

Fat chance of winning.
Koo is the shoe in.
Reform politics I shunned by the great Democratic Dictatorship of Joe Crowley.
Too much money to be made with incumbent Koo.
Anyway, it is far too late for Flushing, either way.

I love the remark she made about living in the area as being "unbearable"

I remember a time when living in the area was amazing - they've made it unbearable. Keep moving out so it can be amazing again, we won't miss any of you.

He's been councilman for eight years

If Koo has served eight years (i.e., two terms), wouldn't he be term limited anyway?

Alas, the intensely incompetent Ron Kim can now OPENLY cavort with another Queens family dynasty, and career criminal sociopath Audrey Pfeffer and her mangy offspring, Stacey Pfeffer-Amato. And, keeping with Queens County's political elitist, country club tradition, Pfeffer-Amato replaced yet another criminal sociopath when Phil Goldfeder vacated his derelict seat (aren't there any gentiles running in Queens?).

Five years ago when Ron Kim worked for state government, I alerted him to corruption at the MTA, and his response was to hang up the phone one me (repeatedly). There is your politician (not public servant in action). And, now Kim's equally incompetent wife will be joining the Flushing cabal of entrenched, political raw sewage (get it?―Flushing and raw sewage?)!

Yet, the legally blind peasants of Queens (the official capital of 'The Fourth World'), just keep lording praise and recognition on this openly practicing, 'kleptocratic kakistocracy-plutocracy' of epic, humanitarian (and ecological) fail―and, the clueless public be damned (again and STILL), as they continue to vote against their OWN self interests with a vengeance!

I would sooner trust a rabid dog before I would trust a handshake from a sleazy, cradle-to-grave parasite like Ron Kim―he devalues honesty itself (just like everyone else in New York politics).

As a constituent over the past years, he has never acknowledged the many serious complaints that I have called into his office, followed by personal appearances. With each attempt, there was never anyone around to take my complaint, and whatever passed for competent and accountable office staff was an embarrassment to primates!

Never trust this brazen thief and shameless coward. He should be impeached forthwith!

So, now both corrupt husband and soon to be corrupt wife can retire with TWO defined, city government pension, compliments of people WITHOUT defined pensions, and on the backs of people who actually work for a living (who use their minds AND their hands, no less). Don't do it, Sheeple―there are enough dynasties in political disgrace right now that are openly practiced (and HAVE been for decades)!

The political scourge of endless corruption, graft and greed in New York State now make hell look like heaven!

Do any of them ever fight for quality of life issues, certainly not in the SE Queens area, but it doesn't matter, none of the ever do, all they talk about is "illegal immigrants".

Ron Kim is a useless pol, why should I think that his wife wouldn't be useless too.

"Ron Kim is not a strong advocate, Ron Kim doesn't fight for quality-of-life issues"

Ron Kim only cares about his ego

That's all we need, another real estate agent in power.

Alison Tan speaks English. I think it's time we have a councilman that at least speaks English.

Ron Kim is a racist. We don't need elected officials who hate white people.

Koo is on the list of councilpersons who support honoring a terrorist in the PR parade.

I am deeply surprised by the threads attacking Ron Kim. How has he wronged his constituents? Peter Koo ( & Toby Stavisky) is oblivious to quality of life issues that are ensuring in his district. They just care when its election year.

I thought Koo was Term Limited?
