A suspicious house in Broadway-Flushing

James Farrell/Queens Tribune
From the Queens Tribune:

An incoming Broadway-Flushing house is raising alarm for neighbors, who fear that the eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom structure is not in character with the neighborhood.

Neighbors became concerned that the building’s occupancy had changed after learning that the original plans, which called for a single-family house, had been amended. State Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) and urban planner and City Council candidate Paul Graziano gathered dozens of residents last Thursday for a press conference outside the structure, located at 33-05 157th St., as work was proceeding behind a green construction fence. Avella called on the DOB to release the amended plans, which residents say have been kept from public view.

Janet McCreesh, president of the Broadway-Flushing Homeowners Association, said that she had hired an expediter to get the plans from Queens Borough Hall but was unsuccessful after three attempts. After that, McCreesh turned to Avella’s office, who received them the Tuesday after the press conference.

The DOB told the Queens Tribune that the single-family status of the house did not change in the amended plans. According to the DOB, the amended plans, which were approved by the department as being in compliance with the city’s Zoning Resolution and Construction Codes, show only minor changes, replacing some of the proposed bathtubs with standup showers. The DOB also added that while it wasn’t sure why there could have been delays in the expediter’s attempts to get the plans, all permitted construction plans are publicly available for viewing at its Queens borough office.

(Great photo showing the ridiculous size of the house.)

Wht do you expect?
Queens borough hall is the expediter for over development in Queens. Do we expect her , or her cohorts, to be sympathetic or helpful in preserving the quality of life in residential neighborhoods?
Beep Katz is the foremost developers' courtesan.
She has pocketed thousands of dollars from developers in the form of campaign contributions.
Just pull her "rap sheet" online on the campaign finance board's site.
When she ran for her city council seat, she bent over for every builder in the borough.
Well, what can you expect from a political slut?

Avella has no power. The prince of the photo op has accomplished minimal results when it came to passing legislation.
But....nice try , Tony.
At least he shows up.
Where the fuck is Paul Vallone?
Taking money from these same developers.
He's their big lobbyist.
He represents them, not you!

8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms in a one family house?
I know Bread and Breakfast inns that have less bedrooms and bathrooms.
If is not for gambling, prostitution then is a hotel being built, right in the middle of Broadway Flushing.
Just who exactly approves this nonsense?
What's next, build a high rise in Bowne Park?
Ridiculous.

All this is the result of EASY MONEY.

Hate to tell you pal, these are not loans from a local American bank.
So the Fed have nothing to do with it. These people spend hundreds of thousands to buy properties and tear them down to rebuild for even more hundreds of thousands.
Is more like an IRS matter, since you cannot bring in more than 10K cash or financial instruments when you come into the country, so these must be financed by ethnic banks, who in turn getting financing from their governement. Is simple, right?
To make matters worse, some off these people with their mega mansions are not even the owners, more like care takers and for the bad news, they are looking on maximum return on who knows who's investment. So gambling, hotels, prostitution will provide that return.
And is happening all over Flushing because is allowed to happen.
For good money of course.

well, no ... if your elected officials and your community board gets off their arse, and you stop listening to them that there is nothing that you could do and start picketing them this problem would be solved real fast.
