Junk cars in Jamaica

From Cleanup Jamaica Queens:

Yesterday I reported to 311 and sent an email out to the powers to be in regards to 2 very smashed up vehicles with license plates that were on the street. One on 90th Ave between 168th Pl & 168th St right across from the 103rd precinct.

The other on 168th St between Jamaica Ave and 90th Avenue also right near the 103rd precinct.

Today I received a response for each vehicle:

First one:
Service Request #: C1-1-894470621
Date Submitted: 09/28/13 7:21:17 AM
Request Type: Derelict Vehicle
Details: With License Plate
Your Service Request was updated.
Your complaint has been received by the Police Department and it has been determined that a long-term investigation may be necessary. Additional information will be available at the conclusion of the investigation

2nd One:
Service Request #: C1-1-894470641
Date Submitted: 09/28/13 7:23:33 AM
Request Type: Derelict Vehicle
Details: With License Plate
Your Service Request was updated.
Your complaint has been received by the Police Department and it has been determined that a long-term investigation may be necessary. Additional information will be available at the conclusion of the investigation.

Do you believe this? There are two totally smashed up cars on the street that cannot be driven away and need to be towed to a facility, but yet the Police Department feels that a long-term investigation may be necessary. Do the investigation in a junkyard! I mean this is not the collapse of the economy due to greedy corporations and financial institutions, it is two smashed up cars parked in residential areas on the street looking like eyesores.

SOP. The 108th leaves burned-out hulks sitting about ten feet away from the Vernon-Jackson #7 stop all the time. Recent souvenirs included the motorcycle, laying on its side, ridden by a guy killed by a car on 39th Street; a graffitied-up box truck blocking the sight of the entrance to Leahy's pub; and the completely torched SUV belonging to Daniel Gioa. Exposed to the elements, it's hard to believe anything of forensic value can be recovered from these derelicts, left near the train and a block away in three directions from million dollar condos. Forget it Jake, it's Queensborough.

call the counsel person for that district and the tv stations -- that should get the police off the lazy backside and do some work

Of course I believe it. The political parties are both corrupt as well as the NYPD, who by the way, cruises your neighborhood on early morning weekends giving out tickets for expired safety inspections while you sleep. 311 Bwahahahaha! Hi I'm from the government, I'm here to help you.

Well in your part of Queens, all you need to do is to drag the hulks to the Dutch Kills Civic Association where local bosses George n Jerry get so much money from Stonewall Van Bramer they pass the hat around at meetings asking for suggestions on how to spend it.

See how you get treated when you run about yelling 'upzone! upzone! upzone!' and are not blamed for the hotels that destroyed your neighborhood during your watch?

So go ahead, drag that dead cat over there. That car on blocks? Tires piled up in a lot?

George n Jerry not only have funds to burn, but ACTUALLY HAVE THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS ATTENTION!!!!

So lets all piggyback on their largess folks! Since you are getting ignored, make YOUR problem THEIR problem and it will be dealt with handily!

All you need, as they say in old New York, is to know the right people!!!

Tell ya right now those don't look line NY state stickers in that windshield.
2 rectangles ?
Its almost impossible for the local cops to get any verified info one car ownership, or insurance registered Tennessee or one of the Carolin's.
Now it will take 6_8 months to be considered an out of state car to be abandoned, stolen or forged.
Clearly the work of illegals. dump hit and run like hell.

Cars that are all banged up and destroyed and are close to a precinct are most likely vouchered at the precinct. They are there for usually up to a month. Nothing will happen if you call 311, the call will be laughed at and closed out. That is where these cars are supposed to be put unfortunately.

Since the city in all its wisdom built many precincts with no parking lots or very small ones, there is no place to store these vehicles, except on the street, until it is towed to the pound. And because the city does everything backwards, it takes forever.

Funny.

If you are a developer you get prompt attention on just about anything.

Isn't there an impound lot just down the block, on 168th Street just south of Jamaica Avenue, across from the entrance to Home Depot? As Joe said, do the investigation while the vehicles are off the street.

There is an impound lot right across from Home Depot and the 103rd precinct has a decent size parking lot that it can put those cars in as well. These cars do not belong on public streets. Do you really think this shit would fly on the Upper East Side, hell no.

People should stop making excuses for this stupid type of shit. It is bad enough we have enough people placing cars on the streets without plates and auto shops putting their crap on the street as well and NYC police do little about that. This kind of shit, demolished cars are even worse.

It is stupidity on the NYC's part.

Not to mention the abuse of placards and official plates by people parking in Jamaica. I've seen cars with federal gov plates parked in the bus lane on corner of Jamaica Ave and 165 St, where there is a recruiting office - there are not only metered spots south along 165th, there's also a private garage on the corner of Archer. No need to park all day in a bus lane and disrupt traffice. And not to mention all the Queens Library vehicles that take up all the spots on 90th Ave, forcing people to use the private lot.

more nonsensical crap from the cops on why they cant follow the same laws everybody else has to obey!

I talked to a detective from Community Affairs at the 103 precinct and he was not even aware that those cars were there. He said they should have never been placed there, they should have been at the impound on 168th.

Joe, what kind of Detective cant be aware of this deplorable sight right in front of his nose. He should resign!
