All-Star game coming to Citifield
From Eyewitness News:
Major League Baseball finally announced Wednesday that the 2013 All-Star game will be hosted by the New York Mets at Citi Field on July 16.
The announcement was made during a news conference at City Hall with baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, Mets owner Fred Wilpon, Mr. Met and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Baseball decided at least four years ago that the Mets would host the game at the ballpark, which opened in 2009, but held off an announcement until it reached agreements with the city and agencies for All-Star services and related events, such as the FanFest.
Selig said the Mets' financial problems caused by the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme didn't delay an announcement.

No doubt!! Looks like the emperor is in need of an enema!!
ALl star game to Citifield? It should go to Yankee Stadium not the Madoff boys who own the Mets - the biggest joke in sports!
Anon No. 3: The All-Star Game was in Yankee Stadium a few years ago. Every team gets it at one point or another. After 49 years, it's the Mets' turn. Don't read anything else into it.
How many Citifield area residents would be able to afford the All Stars tickets? Will there be special discounted tickets set aside?
He's tired of ceremonial duties of being mayor - he only enjoys the power. If he could, he could be mayor of New York City - residence Bermuda.
Mr. Met: Anyone got any hand sanitizer? I'll need industrial strength!
I want all of the Willets Point Business owners to stage a HUGE protest for this event.
Embarass the hell out of the pols and Wilpon/Katz's.
Wilpon and Bloomberg have been playing ball together for years.
But Mike's pair
have shriveled, since WPU (Willets Point United) has been squeezing them.
Is "granny" Shulman going to throw out the first ball, or will she be indicted by then?
