Future crap site in Jamaica Estates?

"I'll betcha this is gonna be a piece o' crap soon.

180-28 Wexford Terrace in Jamaica Estates. Small house, huge, long driveway, over 7000 sf piece of land. For the last 15 years or so I've seen many different cars parked in its unpaved, largely unfinished front yard. I figured someone was renting out space to commuters to help pay their mortgage or heating bill. Turns out it's owned by a corporation. Recently sold for 700,000.

There's gotta be room for six or more families on that piece of land."

The only thing that will save you is landmark designation.

Why are we always surprised and then panic when we see this. Stop being 4 year olds and grow up!

Hey, that's Jamaica, one of the butt holes of Queens , along with College ("garbage") Point, etc.

Hey, Queens Crappers, in case you haven't noticed——the entire borough of Queens is ALREADY a crap site. What future???

So, get used to 'The Fourth World' folks, because it's here to stay——tragically, along with the SCOURGE of ALL Queens political sociopaths (and empowered idiots of epic fail), all of whom SO ORDERED this once proud, stable and self-reliant sanctum to be. And, the public be damned!

To the first Anon,

Oh yes, let us landmark this lovely bungalow.

It can spend some years deteriorating before a suspicious fire occurs where the conflagration, possibly aided by a copious amount of accelerants entirely engulfs the structure, leaving only the chimney remaining...

I believe the poster is referring to historic district status, which may not prevent replacement of this building but will result in a structure that is more in context with its surroundings.

Hmmm....an anti landmark developer's shill is busy posting.
Troll....you've been unmasked!

Sadly, this lot is zoned R5 ... and may be part of the Jamaica Plan rezoning. Looks like it may already have apartment houses as neighbors. By the way, it somehow is a two-family house.

The property has a McDonald's as it's rear neighbor (nice aromas all day/night) and appears to be surrounded by medical offices on its other sides.

Wanna bet the property will soon be home to more medical offices?

That looks like the original back of the house. Front probably faced the next street where a McDonalds is. Property is a mess, house probably is run down & in need of major repairs, surrounded by apartment houses, lot is zoned RS, modern multi family affordable housing would be the perfect fit.

Don't forget the north Flushing center lot that was parceled by adverse possession. You own it said the city, but you owe decades of back taxes, put it up for auction. Now there is a condo there, right in the center of a residential lot. There are a lot more like that near there waiting to happen.

Where can I read about this?
