Con artists scamming immigrants

From the Times Ledger:

People Helping People, like several others on this stretch of Roosevelt, charges clients $120 for the address of a business looking for work, sometimes a construction company, sometimes a restaurant.

When the prospective worker arrives, he finds either it is a bogus address or the company does not need work, activists said.

Scammers need to make a living too!

Madoff conned and scammed on a gigantic scale. These cheats are just pikers.

In both cases the "victims" are to blame for their own plight. They want something that they know is probably illegal. That's the essence of the con game. The "mark" has been sized up by the con. The con believes the mark is a crook, too.

In this scam, if the illegal aliens were back home in the country where they are citizens, this wouldn't happen. Unless they are illiterate in their own language, making them "marks" everywhere, so, screw them anyway.

Immigrants were greeted on the piers of New York a hundred years ago, just like these people are today, but the jobs and a small amount of coal and food existed.

My father, a legal immigrant, got his first job, a clerk job in B. Altmans from a cop on the beat in 1947.

Regardless of how I feel about illegal immigration, I have a problem with people being given a license to grift. Many times as a teller I ran into people trying to rip off our elderly customers and I took personal pleasure in thwarting them. I look forward to jail time for those creeps.

These are not immigrants. They are economic opportunists who are willing to work for far below the minimum wage and who have no interest whatsoever in long-term assimilation into this society. While it's immoral for people to cheat them, dealing with these scams is not at the top of anyone's list. If you went to Mexico and got grifted, what do you think the authorities would do?

BLOOMBERG DOESN'T LIVE IN THE MAYOR'S MANSON, SO LET THEM GO THERE WHILE I.N.S/I.C.E. ARE WAITING ON THEM. IT'S ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO BE HERE, WORK OFF THE BOOKS AND NOT PAY INTO OUR TAXES. BUT IT'S OK THEIR CHILDREN GET FREE MEDICAL AND SCHOOLING. ENOUGH WITH THIS ALREADY AMERICA HAS TO DO FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO PAY TAXES. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE IN NEED OF WORK, LET THE AMERICAN'S DO IT. HOW DUMB ARE THEY TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY APPARENTLY CAN'T READ. HELLO TRIED CALLING THE PLACE BEFORE GOING THERE.
