If at first you don't succeed...

From the Forum West:

Kenneth Guyear, 27, is facing up to 25 years in prison for running down 16-year-old Robert Ogle and 20-year-old Alex Paul on 80th Street in Middle Village in the early morning hours of February 1. However, Guyear’s last two scheduled appearances in Queens Criminal Court were postponed because he tried to kill himself while in custody, according to his former attorney.

Guyear was admitted to the prison ward of Bellevue Hospital after the suicide attempt following his arrest, said attorney Ruth Addadoo-Johnson of the Legal Aid Society. Since he was just recently released from the hospital and returned to Rikers Island, court appearances scheduled for March 12 and March 19 were adjourned.

Guyear, of Middle Village, is now scheduled to appear in court on April 6. His current attorney, Scott Bookstein, refused on Tuesday to comment on the proceedings against his client. When asked to confirm that Guyear had tried to kill himself, Bookstein responded, “What does no comment mean?”

Wow, we almost had a murderous junkie scumbag eliminate himself, saving us legal fees, court costs and jail costs. Let's hope he's more successful next time.

That's not what he's trying to do. He knows he's gonna spend many years in major prison upstate and is scared shitless about it. If he tries to kill himself they will put his ass in a hospital prison where it will not be so dangerous and less likely he will be turned into somebodies bitch! He isn't trying to off himself, he's just being a coward. The DA better see this and act accordingly or this guy is gonna have it cushy in a hospital!!!

There's no evidence he was a junkie or that he was murderous. How about "manslaughterous drunken scumbag?"

The boy got in a car drunk and killed two people, we should not feel sorry for him and he should go to jail. He is playing the sick card and it's wrong. If he tries to kill himself thats his grief not ours. What about the two families who are suffering with their lost. I knew of one the boys who past away and he didn't deserve this, he was way too young to die. Shame on this young man and he has to pay for the crime he did.

No evidence? How about his own stupid boasting mouth?

He killed two young men, and then backed up and ran them over again, repeatedly. That's not manslaughter. Adults call it murder.

This slug is 27 now. Forget 25 years. He will be sentenced to some term, but he will be paroled "for good behavior" at 15 years. He will be 42 when released. Young enough to return to his drunken, drugged, murderous ways.

Why is the sentence not two CONSECUTIVE life terms? He MURDERED two people!

George, Is we or is we aint the brothers of the two young clean-living men who were murdered by this drunken, drugged, murderer?

Don't they deserve all of our sympathy? They were actual victims.

This dirtbag is a conniving loser. We will be serving his interests well by letting him rot in jail to contemplate his sins, and perhaps serve as a vivid example to some other like-minded creep.

That way we brothers would be keeping this bad brother in jail. That's real brother's keeper.

My advice to this young man. Let prison be your opportunity to shed those wicked vices that destroyed you.

Man up, get clean, come out ready to assume financial responsibility for your acts.

Considerata. The legacy of Western ideas.

"One should never do wrong in return, nor mistreat any man, no matter how one has been mistreated by him." - Socrates in Plato's Crito

"You have heard that it was said 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth'. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." - Matthew 5:38-42

"Mercy seasons Justice" -Shakespeare in The Merchant of Venice Act 4; Scene 1

Put those in your pipes and smoke 'em.

What's up with this loser? He looks all contorted in the picture, like he's having a spasm.

I've always supported both the death penalty and a woman's right to an abortion.

This creep should clearly be aborted, immediately. Best to clean out the gene pool of all the muck.

You can also vote as to whether he should go to hell.

I wonder if this kid was related to any of you, would you still utter these stinging comments.Instead of placing all the blame on this kid, who I do beleive should pay his debt to society, lets educate teens about the ramifications of drunk driving.

AND I WONDER IF THE VICTIMS WERE RELATED TO YOU IF YOU'D BE SO BENEVOLENT. THERE ISNO EXCUSE TODAY FOR NOT KNOWING THE DANGERS, THERE IS TONS OF INFORMATION OUT THERE, NEWS STORIES GALORE AND NOT TO MENTION IT SHOULD BE INCUMBENT ON PARENTS TO RAISE MORE RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE. ONCE AGAIN WE NEED TO FIND AN EXCUSE FOR AN ASSHOLE. "BLAME SOCIETY FOR NOT TEACHING HIM"---- BULLSHIT

Friggin bleeding heart liberal probably! In this day and age the information about drinking/drugging and driving is all over the place. There is NO EXCUSE!

If he was related to me:

First, I'd beat the hell out of this kid.
Second, I'd beat the hell out of you.

georgetheatheist said...

Wade, you're not allowed to "beat the hell" out of anyone anymore. You must let the law take its course.

In the interim, www.nra.org.

Why do they prevent these creeps from killing themselves?
Even if he gets out in 15 years he's gonna return to his wicked ways especially if he is a junkie. He's got nothing else going for him.

Just like that preppie murder in the 80s. You'd have thought that guy would've learned his lesson. But he went right back to drugs the minute he got out.
Some people are just bad seeds. It's in their blood.

Personally I wish him the best of health, a long life and a top paying job when he comes out, combined with a major court judgment to pay damages to the parents of the boys he killed.

If they do not have sons to support them in their old age, he should. If he feels any remorse for what he did, his new goal can be to repair some of the damage he did to two families.

Maspeth Mom says...

What a sick comment. He should pay them, in order to ease his parents grief!!!

You probably dont have kids, if you do I feel sorry for them.

Anonymous said...

No. Not to ease their grief. To make what little meaningful restitution that he can and help them in their age and poverty.

My father, an honest man, worked two and sometimes three jobs to support a wife, grandmother and 4 children.

There are economic consequences to what he did and if he can never repair the hurt, he can at least try to limit further damage.

This pos will never make it in the joint.Ionly wish i can be on that jury.....fvck him and his useless parents.I wonder how the idiot that left his car double parked with the motor running feels? lazy ass moron!

If he has not already been cornholed, I'd be surprised. He'll get used to jail in time. As your title says, "If at first you don't suck seed..."

Anonymous said...

I just want to say we should think about ROb and Alex. Everyone knows this guy should be in jail for a long time but the justice system sucks sometimes. But just pray for Rob and Alex. ROb would have turned 17 on March 13.Today for the first time I went to the street they got hit on. It was so hard I just stood there for 15 minutes crying in the rain. Im going to go to the Met game on Friday and just look at the brick that has his name on it and just remember all the times we had together. so if anyone wants to say this guy should get out just think if that was you son or brother or best friend who was killed there. Just think how you would feel.

Think about Rob and Alex--you are 100% right Anonymous above. Let's keep our proper focus. It's not fair--they did nothing to deserve this, and they should right now be living their own crazy happy young lives. Their families do not deserve the terrible pain they are feeling. And all their friends the same. Why? If its any small consolation, many strangers who did not know them have a real sense now of how important Rob and Alex were, are, and always will be to the many, many lives they touched. You never know how much one life influences others; You just have to trust. Remember them.

The sad thing is that binge drinking is now considered a normal part of the party scene by many young people.

In my youth such behavior was considered either moral depravity or a sure sign of advanced mental illness or alcoholism.

We have to remind parents, restaurant owners and bar tenders that the dram laws exist and that they can be held responsible for sending loaded youth careening onto the street.

Kid looks like a little faggot anyway.

Anonymous said...

Just a topic for discussion:
Lower the drinking age to twenty, raise the legal sale of tobacco age to 19 and legalize marijuana for an age of 21.
Yes, no, maybe - keep in mind the war in Mexico.

I enjoy your blog and appreciate your insight on overdevelopment and politics but it is disappointing and disturbing the hatred that certain topics elicit. I find it inconceivable that people are unable to put themselves in the position of others. I feel for the families that lost two wonderful sons but I also feel for this young man and his family.
It is a lot of BS that we have educated youngsters on the dangers of binge drinking and drunk driving. It would not be the serious issue it is today at all college students campuses if we had done a better job. It is easier to blame a kid exclusively and perhaps even call him a faggot than take responsability. What goes around comes around I hope a tragedy of this nature touches your family and perhaps taxpayer, wade, jeff etc. who have never drank in excess will become more compassionate.

At what age would you consider him to be just an asshole drunk and not a kid? He's closer to 30 than 20 now.

As the saying goes, "Some people are so open minded, their brain is falling out."

You're the kind of person that if you met Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, or Pol Pot, you'd probably say: "You know, he's not really that bad of a guy."

I rather be with the liberals than the [sic] with the trash

You've already demonstrated that you've cast your lot with the trash. Now put up, and offer one of your spare bedrooms to this loathsome loser, or else shut up already.

Compassion for families? Yes. They come first--unconditional love. Question: In what way did he show compassion for his own family?
