There goes the green: unhappy ending

And because every blade of grass in the borough must be paved over, I present this latest crappification from Maspeth.
Yes, that pile of dung on the right (four 3-family homes) replaced an empty corner lot. Well, empty doesn't accurately describe it - it was actually a beautiful collection of trees.
Now it's just crap. I called this one back in 2007...

Not a single square inch left unpaved. This is why there are massive floods in Queens every time it rains. How is this even legal????

There's no stopping the Fedderation of Queens.

This is horrible!!! A horrible excuse for architects, builders and homeowners this is just disgusting! WE should demand a change in quality and craftsmanship and community planning in Queens!

Unfortunately most people think that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its providing housing in a city that "is in a shortage of housing supply".

This destruction of our communities will continue until we as a city say enough is enough and not allow any more buildings to be built.

With this " affordable housing push" by the mayor the rate of destruction will only decrease.

A couple of months ago Crifasi Real Estate was selling the adjoining vinyl sided house with the huge yard.
Soon that will be gone and replaced by more monstrosities.

That ugly green house next to it needs a new look, it looks run down. Let's face it though, all these new houses are just going to house either illegals or be rented out to some stupid Liberals. Regular people are rare to find in ny.

What happened to the law that was put in place a few years ago that stated a certain percentage has to have green so that there would not be flooding, run-off water issues?

Good ole DOB. Good for shit. Where is City Council on this issue and seeing that it is enforced.

Queens, where anything goes and crap is the operative word.

There actually was a fire at the green and white house yesterday. I don't know how extensive.

And the loss of several street parking spots, too

@Joe M: I agree. There don't seem to be any back yards: impervious surface must be close to 90%. . . and I'd bet there's no provision for storm water run-off; only Staten Island knows drywells & cisterns, near as I can tell.

"until we as a city say enough is enough and not allow any more buildings to be built"

The city will never let that happen because its batting on receiving more federal money for all the "extra people" it can jam into Queens.
Obama shipped over 100,000 border children to Queens to live with relatives. A good 1/2 are females, the majority who will never complete an education, never work and start squirting out cash baby's in 5 or so years. The cycle will then repeat itself like these people did to their home country's.
Its going to be hell, its move to Manhatten or GET out of New York!!

"Obama shipped over 100,000..."

While I agree with your main points and sentiment, I request links to evidence for that figure. My understanding is that it's more like 10,000 for the whole city. I would like to cite the higher figure in debating liberals if you can tell me where it came from.

Whats the address lets all call or put a complaint to 311 that according to any zoning below R6 there needs to be a percentage of green space in front of dwelling.

Anon #12: Don't forget it's move to Manhattan or to move to Long Island where the streets and neighborhoods are gold to many. Bunch of racist and sheltered idiots , those Long Island people.

There's a lot of Long Islanders among those cops that keep you safe from criminals or track them down when they don't, and also among those teachers that try to teach your kids how to read when they're so used to sitting in front of the TV all day.

Sheltered racists? The Hamptons don't start at the city line. Ever hear of Hempstead?

But you go on being bitter that when some people say "my yard" they're talking about a quarter-acre and not a mow strip.

The 100,000 is the projected number for MORE of them.
The recent arrivals make an estimated 350,000 children of illegal immigrants already here ! — That is about 12 percent of the public-school population.
Due to the November election INS is refused to release the exact numbers but you can bet Queens got the biggest share of them because it holds the most illegal "relatives" and extended family's to house them.

An even bigger "wave" will be arriving spring, the Mayor and his "special friends" adore the idea and are sending out "warnings" to the schools to get ready for them.
Many of the links (relating to Queens)have been taken down however one remains and it clearly says PLENTY however the numbers for Queens are LAST YEARS !!

Long Island is streets of gold ?

Haa, not for long unless you live on one of the private N Shore peninsulas with good "laws"
Take a stroll through Walmart in Riverhead, East Hampton, Manorville and catch sight of the hordes of illegal Mexicans & Guatemalans pushing baby carriages with undisciplined brats in tow. All loading up on diapers, big box junkfood, soda and cheap clothing.
--Each and every one of them dangerously obese, not speaking one word of English coughing and spitting over the place!!
Streets of "Gold" my ass !!

The arrival of "Hong Kong" specials" or Wal-mart are no doubt indicator's your neighborhood is f_cked !!

The city is really messing up Maspeth.
I was in Polack alley 8PM last Tuesday (not far from this mess) and could not find parking anywhere including fire hydrants.
No standing" zones and a real circus to go around the block with all the "one ways" zig-zagging all the double parking on the narrow streets.
If ever a fire it take a couple life's by the time emergency responders can clear the obstructing cars for a firetruck and water access. --People are gonna die.
I cant imagine how many illegals are packed into those old wooden houses cellars daisy chaining cheapo electric heaters & hotplates with cheap 99cent store extension cords.
