Schumer says ObamaCare was the wrong priority

From Forbes:

Despite the enduring unpopularity of Obamacare, Congressional Democrats have up to now stood by their health care law, allowing that “it’s not perfect” but that they are proud of their votes to pass it. That all changed on Tuesday, when the Senate’s third-highest-ranking Democrat—New York’s Chuck Schumer—declared that “we took [the public’s] mandate and put all our focus on the wrong problem—health care reform…When Democrats focused on health care, the average middle-class person thought, ‘The Democrats aren’t paying enough attention to me.’”

Sen. Schumer made his remarks at the National Press Club in Washington. “Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them…Now, the plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships caused by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed,” Schumer maintained. “But it wasn’t the change we were hired to make. Americans were crying out for the end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs—not changes in health care.”

“This makes sense,” Schumer continued, “considering 85 percent of all Americans got their health care from either the government, Medicare, Medicaid, or their employer. And if health care costs were going up, it really did not affect them. The Affordable Care Act was aimed at the 36 million Americans who were not covered. It has been reported that only a third of the uninsured are even registered to vote…it made no political sense.”

like the useful idiots that voted to invade Iraq, chuck suddenly finds out in retrospect that the affordable care act was a mistake. This opportunistic pandering piece of shit doesn't give a damn about the working poor that needs health care and is oblivious to the fact that there is barely a middle class in this country anymore.

this sudden epiphany will open the floodgates for repeal, making all that promoting, legislating, filibustering and congress shutting down for a month a complete waste of time.

of course he will still have government issued health care that we have to sacrifice a piece of our paychecks to.money that could go buying health insurance.

limo liberal prick he is.

This is the opening gambit for "Yes, it was wrong then, but since it is so intertwined into the fabric of American healthcare, it's too late to make substantial changes, so it's right for now as imperfect as it is."

This has worked for Social Security and Medicare, it ought to work for Obamacare.

Did he say Obamacare was a "mistake" or that the timing was a mistake? I think the latter.

"you have to pass it to know what's in it

obamacare=P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act,another massive pile of legislative dung that was passed without question and without thoroughly reading it.

there was one democrat who held his ground and he was Dennis Kucinich from Ohio.He wound up voting for it under pressure probably thinking he would not get the backup he needed to get re-elected.He lost anyway.

Put a black box up Schumer's ass so you can track where he gets his campaign contributions from.
