Well you can write off this building getting landmarked.
And as a result of the preservation community's public education program, buildings throughout Queens now understand that this stucco rots buildings: city council is about to pass legislation like in other areas banning its use.

They do not stucco buildings in landmark designated areas like the Village, West Side, East Side, and Brooklyn Heights so its not an issue.

Oh I think you want to maximize the value of your home.
Then you landmark it. Study after study has proven this (although our 'friends' in preservation are loath to reveal this)
But, then again, if you want the right to dig a big hole and put up a nine story monster or a fat rendering plant for your neighbors to enjoy, then you cannot (unless of course you live in community board 1 or 2 where anything goes)
Ever hear of zoning? You are restricted right now. You many not know it, but you are.
Oh yes, I am sure that you would not be happy if your neighbor puts up a 15 story hotel with windows just 6 feet from your son's bedroom, so this 'restriction' helps you, too.
But you see folks, instead of the preservationists encourging prodevelopment study after study they should be out there telling these things to this person.
