The Corona and Rego Park Horrors

Impunity City

Located on Van Doren St. abutting 108 St and Corona Ave., this multi-family house has been abandoned for over a decade. And according to Department of Buildings records, it hasn’t been inspected for a decade as well. Apparently there was interior work being done on this home the last time the DOB was here in 2011 and after a bathroom collapsed through the ceiling and the ticket was resolved, the owner and the DOB just gave up on it.

But it’s not the only shithole in the Middle East of Queens, about 5 miles away in Rego Park stands another abandoned formerly modest two-family house. on Wetherhole St, just a hundred feet from bustling Woodhaven Blvd and a quick walk from the Queens Center Mall.

It’d look much better with a nice shiny affordable tower block there.

Sad. Those were some nice houses once upon a time. Then political blight came, people fled and
now these houses crumble into dust. Fitting symbols of the decline and fall of not just NYC but the whole nation.

That stoop cement job is a genuine masterpiece.

What a shameful, depraved and completely preventive disgrace that any representing politician, both inside and OUTSIDE of this dystopian Corona-Rego Park horror show, regarding the 'OTHER' do nothing, know nothing leadership (that has never led by example), could watch with a clear conscience while whole, erstwhile American middle class neighborhoods turn into abhorrent decay and societal collapse (like the Roman Empire), as they voraciously pad their next electoral 'slush fund' campaigns with millions, whilst everything around their gated, never-ending loop of 'PRIVATE SPLENDOR GRAFT' is collapsing into rot, decay, poverty, obscurity and quiet desperation for everyone else.

Mind you, I am not a supporter of any and all politicians, but the one (who shall remain nameless) who referred to this kind of societal decay as a 'shithole' was right (I believe that the term 'shithole' applied to the appalling conditions of the City of Baltimore, and the failed Congressional leadership of Elijah Cummings: "Trump Called a Baltimore Congressional District a 'Disgusting, Rat and Rodent Infested Mess'").

Well, Baltimore is no match for the willfully neglected slums of QUEENS County, now sadly the official, boroughwide Raw Sewage Plant of The FOURTH World——and it's only getting worse by the hour! (But, don't worry, land serfs, lapdogs and doormats: AOC has already got her 'couture' pre-selected for next year's Met Ball——while you can expect YOUR invite [again!] to be MIA——EXACTLY LIKE AOC! OH, Happy Day!)

And don’t forget that horror show on 69 Avenue in Forest Hills across the street from PS 144.

These two abandoned homes in Queens shows how the Department of Buildings are staying on top of fixing the problems and forcing the banks and mortgage to fix these depilated properties so these homes won't bring the value down of the other properties in the neighborhood.

Your tax dollars hard at work.

I'm outraged by the lack of outrage.

No problems, Moshe and company are working on a brand new condo tower with 800 apartments.

Abandoned properties allowed to sit like this longer than a year or two should trigger automatic eminent domain proceedings and be auctioned, similar to what would happen if you abandoned your car on the street and didn't claim it.

Auction winner would need to start repair or replacement construction within 90 days

Oops, sorry, just another daydream.
