President Poopy Pants hooks up the city with new funding for transit, bridges and other things

 Gothamist

Congress passed a landmark bipartisan infrastructure bill late Friday that will bring billions of dollars to the New York City region, funding projects like elevator upgrades to the subway system and upgrades to Amtrak for the long-stalled Gateway Project to build tunnels under the Hudson River.

The infrastructure bill adds $550 billion to existing transportation spending for a total of $1.2 trillion, and now heads to President Joe Biden who is expected to quickly sign the legislation.

“Tonight, we took a monumental step forward as a nation,” Biden said in a statement early Saturday morning. “The United States House of Representatives passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a once-in-generation bipartisan infrastructure bill that will create millions of jobs, turn the climate crisis into an opportunity, and put us on a path to win the economic competition for the 21st Century.”

"Congress has made good on its promise to deliver infrastructure funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, meaning New York will be able to make critical investments in our roads, bridges, and transit,” Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement Saturday. “This funding also helps make our infrastructure more resilient to climate change and will expand access to clean water, supporting New York's economic growth and improving public health.”

For the New York City region, the bill could be transformative, said Carlo Scissura, president and chief executive officer of the New York Building Congress. Among other projects, funding will go to building the extension of the Second Avenue subway line, the revitalization of the Port Authority bus terminal, upgrading the subway’s signals and improving trip times, and bridge and road upgrades for Long Island and Westchester.

“It really does transform the physical part of our region in a way that we haven't had a federal investment like this in decades honestly,” Scissura said, and added, “I think we really did well on this plan.”

I thought president Turd had fixed this already after his four years. Oh, ok, he built a wall to nowhere to keep a few rabbits out.
Good to have a president that is actually getting stuff done.

Nobody pats themselves on the back better than third (Or fourth) tier bureaucrats trying to make themselves look good in front of their masters in an attempt to climb the slimy ladder of success on their way up...

Trump spent four years trying to get an infrastructure bill done, but the UniParty wouldn't work with him. Now this fat pork pie will do some good things, but billions will go down the drain on useless "green" charades (i.e. payoffs to connected groups) and billions more will vanish via the usual mysterious government ways. Just like billions in Covid relief went into the banks of people in Kazakhstan or wherever. Oh well.

Unfortunately most of this money will no go to infrastructure but be stolen by the crooked politicians, unions and the mob.

I actually do agree with this plan. However, it will create more debt for our economy and our children will feel it for years to come. And then we also have to hope that the government actually uses the money for what its SUPPOSED to be spent on and not have it be wasted on these losers who commit overtime fraud in the MTA.

One huge problem with this. Where are they to get the skilled labor to do all these projects. The Cemetery?

The young people don't want to do hard work or work at all. It will take years to teach the South of the borders to read let alone engineering skills. Knowing how to hang sheetrock and slap mud don't cut fixing or rebuilding a bridge, electrical grid or tunnel. Too many special skills are required.
They are going to end up having to import Chinese and Russians baiting them and 1/2 of central America (with the low end work) with green cards--Just wait and see !!!

farts in the face of a British Royal, shits in his pants at the Vatican, begs the question, WHO IS REALLY RUNNING THIS COUNTRY?

Bezos? Google, Black Rock? State Street? Gates? Deep State? Who?

Ocasio-Cortez knows most here constituents could never handle the hard work of infrastructure jobs. Most wouldn't even qualify or will be willing to train.
She just wants free universal income or these millennial brats be handed big paying jobs to tap cellphones do art, music and finger-paint.
This is the shit I put up with. You give some kid a break with a job, he says he has a degree in art yet cant paint numbers right, cant pain a simple door. Ok you put him on sheetrock and cleanup team. Then in 2 days he don't want to work anymore "the work is too hard" or refuse to put the dam cellphone away. Runs home to mamma who come running up to me cursing me out HOW DARE YOU my son has car payments to make on that new car I co-signed the bank for.
My Response:
Hey sorry Lady, I tried he don't want to work.

I hear some shit coming down the pipes.
It has started in England where investment firms could not find enough "inner city" people smart enough or willing or even train for the positions they needed. Now the British government has issued a diversity hiring mandate. A company's need government permission to hire white males. Or must hire and hand useless people the same salary's, healthcare to do nothing in order to keep a diversity balance.
In other words dump welfare on employers.
People need to toss these socialist lunatic like AOC out in the midterm elections before this shit is enacted here. Remember the democrats are copying everything socialist from Europe. Its already started with the bike lanes and the no license electric motorcycles.
No joke !!

@Gino

You don't get much out of your cave.
Maybe travel a bit around the world and see others can build fantastic buildings, bridges, roads.
The so called "immigrants" they are really a globalist paid army to dilute the local population and wreak havoc
They have been doing it for years around the world.
As for young people is easy to put them down, but what did you do for them? Expect them to learn a trade, skill or critical thinking at the indoctrination centers called "schools"?
Those kids have parents you know.
Easy to blame, but much harder to offer a viable solution.

They did this partly to make people refocus an not think about the 450 k a piece he is giving to illegals. GOP lawmakers slam $450K payouts to immigrants in letter to White House
illegals in NYC already get 15 k a piece while Americans who were born here including veterans get nothing! https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news/new-york-offering-up-to-15k-payments-for-illegal-immigrants/ar-BB1frrra

He is getting stuff done. Never before seen inflation, lawlessness, ignoring court rulings, illegal mandates, flying illegals into the country and distributing them in the middle of the night, destroying the economy, Taliban military parade with $80 billion American Army military gear (paid for by taxpayers) - sure he is getting things done just fine.

Farting in the face of the Duchess of Cornwall and shitting in his pants occasionally shows he is a class act. 81 million people cannot be wrong.

Is Barry still in the basement while Brandon is having fun?

The rightwing nuts are still trying to figure out what do do about this infrastructure bill. They want to be against it, just because....because. They cannot be for it because their hero, Trump Turd, only managed to build a wall to nowhere and a rose garden after 4 years.
They want to be for it because AOC was against it. They want to be against it well, just because... they are Karens.

I been to London, they build shit.
Actually the don't build at all a computer does the design and another computer controlled robotics and Pleck machines does the pre-fabrication.
Build belly out, sideways, circulate shit that all looks like hell. Germany and Scandinavia did the world no favors here.
Freak Show.

>>>Expect them to learn a trade, skill or critical<<
Yes I do expect them to learn however when they refuse to get off the cellphone (A huge occupational hazard for everybody) cant pay attention, cry and refuse to work YES THEY GET FIRED.
I don't want no accident or anybody getting hurt because shome shit kid mu Facebook, Tweet or text every 2 minutes.
Are you stupid or crazy to even think Id have such a huge liability for me and the property owner on a job sight?

I don't give a shit about the lousy parents !!
The last "artist" mis represented himself to get the job, he couldn't paint gold numbers on glass with a fucking stencil. Most these 30 and younger males looking for work have something wrong with them. Something gone really wrong because they are like girls. Cant carry one sheetrock, come to work with manicures WTF. I have woman working that put them to shame.
The computers and phones have turned both people and architecture into chopped Zucchini.
We wont see any work worth a shit with this infrastructure funding in our lifetime. The labor and skills no longer exist, the city cant even fill and seal a pothole correctly. And those are union guys on the job for years.
This funding will be stolen, misused and squandered on bullshit.

Gee

Hey Gino. You willing to hire an old guy?

Gino said...

The sheeple don't understand what this transit and infrastructure funding will really be used for and what it will mean for them.
Hint--Not to fix potholes & sewers, especially in good neighborhoods like most currently think.
The old stuff wont be repaired, only replaced with modern cheap wheeled in and cranked up generic prefab McSlapup that doesn't require skills.
Like I said the skills no longer exist to rehab the old, look what it took to fix the statue of liberty 20 years ago, and now labor skills are worse.
This is likely to be 90% teardown and replace.

For example: I was just told the #1 thing on both the Democrats and DOTs hit list are the arched stone cobble overpass bridges along the Meadowbrook parkway going to Jones beach.
They are going to tear them down, to make them higher the crossovers will need to be thinner. This means replacing stone arch with generic industrial looking wide I beam, slip pored footings and columns to make the Meadowbrook available to commercial traffic so inner city busses can access Jones Beach as well as integrate the S Shore school districts like the Democrats always wanted.
Jones Beach already has problem's with inner city visitors but when this "upgrade" happens it will instantly become another Rockaway. This will also bring both inner city busses, and big development to surrounding to nice South Shore neighborhoods such as Lido Beach, Merrick & Baldwin Harbor. The schools in that area will then have bussed in kids from neighborhoods like Roosevelt, Uniondale.
Gangs, Thugs, Illegals, Drugs, and Guns, The "Highway from Hell" for Long island residents.
Some "upgrade" huh?

Robert Moses and S Shore homeowners knew this 75 years ago and to prevent it he deliberately built the overpasses low.

Gino wants to hire himself the rest of the world is just young, stupid, lazy people.
We all look up to him, the grand puba who can even blow himself.

---Hey Gino. You willing to hire an old guy?
If you can carry more then 30 lbs without crying, strip paint, do Stier faux wood-grain finishes, gold leaf lettering on glass, work a pipe threader and do basic rebuilds on old vintage faucets, tubs, sinks, lights, strip and refinish oak & mahogany doors, Brass etc.
Just because something's old and warn doesn't mean it's to be thrown in a dumpster and replaced with new box store shit.

Old sink leaking is fixed with a grinding stone (re-hone) followed by two 50 cent washers $100 labor good for 5-15 years. New MOEN sink from Home depot leaking? $90 cartridge, special pull tools needed, $150 labor good for 1-2 years then going stiff, chrome pitting and leaking depending on the hardness of the water and use.
New and improved I don't think so.
I'm just putting out some examples to contribute to this blog so people can learn.
Once you screw up a house it cost 10X more $$ to restore. Many people want to retain real authentic vintage and many want quick and cheap.
Try finding a new solid mahogany door with real privacy glass, brass plate skeleton key sliding locks today. The sheep don't get it.

"Excluded workers can receive a benefit of $15,600 (which was calculated at $300 per week for 52 weeks which is nearly a third less than the average wage replacement award for unemployed workers at this time) if they fall within these categories:

Those who filed a tax return for 2018, 2019, or 2020 using a valid U.S. Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
Those who can verify via letter from an employer, valid paystubs, wage statement, wage notice, W2, or 1099 showing at least six weeks of work from the six month period prior to the date the applicant certifies they became eligible for benefits.
