Sunnyside deals with problem bar

From Sunnyside Post:

A bar/restaurant located on the corner of 48th Street and Barnett Avenue has come under fire by local residents.

Several residents have complained about noise coming from the 47-15 Barnett Avenue establishment, while others allege that it has been operating well past 4 am (after hours).

Community Board 2 Chair Pat O’Brien said the board has fielded more than six complaints regarding the establishment in recent months.

Furthermore, the operators of the bar/restaurant—called Baru–have failed to show up at several board meetings in recent months to discuss the renewal of their liquor license, according to board records.

Emilo Rubio opened Baru in 2012 as a Colombian restaurant.

Move community board 1 boundary another 2 blocks. Add a Bareburger and and infused tea and we heart astoria will write a rave review followed by the Gazette and everyone's problem is solved.

Rather have the illegals than people doing illegal. Time to vote them out.

They have a younger average age than found in the general population.

Cause its youth culture, George, like the Africans and those callow tykes over at the Knockdown Center. Kids always loud, drunk, and passed out - and not necessarily in that order.

Infused tea??? Must be some kind of hipster thing.

The problem is not the noise. It's the thugs who come into the neighborhood to go to this place. These people are the type to pull a gun inside or outside of the club. It's dangerous, especially when there are families walking past on Sunday mornings when they are doing there after hours crap.

Doesn't seem to bother the folks on Steinway Street or Broadway. As they say in Astoria, if you don't like it, move.
