Drugs sold out of illegal cellar apartment beneath daycare center

From Eyewitness News:

A man was arrested for allegedly dealing drugs out of the basement of a Queens building that also houses his father's day care.

Police sources say 24-year-old Michael Gomez and his associate, 23-year-old Selestino Rodriguez, were taken into custody during a raid at the building on 88th Avenue in Woodhaven around 5 a.m. Thursday.

Detectives learned that Gomez was selling the drugs out of his basement apartment, below where his father operates a licensed day care, My Precious Moments Daycare, on the upper floors.

Undercover officers had made numerous drug buys in the basement apartment before making the arrests.

Marijuana, Molly, ecstasy pills and more than $2,500 in cash were seized.

(Correction: He was selling drugs out of his illegal cellar apartment which has had a vacate order since 2008.)

Mario's son better follow the leads of the great states of Colorado and Washington and legalize marijuana.Let some savvy and hopefully moral people open up some stores and smoke lounges so people don't have to worry about leaving their kids with these types in these houses.

and yes there are hundreds of these in the leper colony of southeast queens, from woodhaven to bellrose. I thought the pre-k plan was going to decrease the amount of these makeshift centers but judging by the recent report of the lack of space in schools, obviously these dumps are the only option.

This is what happens when the city and state allow one and two family homes to be used as so -called nursery schools. There must be thousands all over the city and they are not being watched as they should be. CLOSE THEM DOWN!!!! CHANGE THE LAW!!!!!!!!

I would be upset if a daycare center was located on my block. Who wants that "Crap" on a residential street ?

I want to know how many ACS vouchers were going into the daycare center. For those not black or immigrants, that's the money the City pays so the above never have to pay a baby sitter.

I hope they shut down the day care center.

Look at the sign! This day care center gets every known voucher which means your tax dollar is paying for it. What other criminal activity is going on that location?

In the news report, one neighbor starts to talk about all the activity in the neighborhood. The news reporter quickly cuts her off.
