Destroyer of looted possessions faces no charges

From the Daily News:

A 70-year-old woman whose Queens house was stolen out from under her is dismayed that no one will face charges for stealing the $400,000 worth of goods missing from the home.

Jennifer Merin, 70, said that police told her they have closed the investigation into the furniture and other valuables that disappeared from the home around the time it was out of her possession.

Darrell Beatty, 49, faces grand larceny charges for allegedly forging the deed to Merin’s Laurelton home.

Merin said her family’s antique furniture collection, including a 17th-Century Chinese porcelain vase, a rare crystal and brass chandelier, and a turn of the century wood bedroom set are all missing.

She leaves a house unattended, filled with valuables and visits so infrequently that only her water bill tipped he off?

No relationship with the neighbors who might have notified her?

the invader and sons should be sent to prison, but leaving a house totally unattended and full of possessions in that neighborhood is asking for problems.

No one is concerned because a old white woman was robbed by a black man. Could you imagine the al sharpton outrage and protests if a white person did this to a black person?

Yes, its all her fault. I don't see why she is allowed to walk around free while Darrell Beatty faces charges.

She wasn't watching her stuff. That is all on her. What is an entrepreneur to do? A house with all of its stuff left unguarded and unwatched?

Sounds like Christmas to me!!!!!

Perhaps it was not wise of her to allow this place to go unvisited and un-alarmed in NYC.

Trespassing? Theft? Filing false documents? (the deed).

Remind me again why this guy wasn't put in jail?

What on earth is the DA doing? This woman deserves better from the elected parasites (officials) who run this city.

How many times has. "White" robbed a "Black"? Statistics will answer that question.

Do you mean prior to or after the end of Slavery in the US?

If the family has proof of the stolen stuff and it's authenticity, the lazy NYPD should investigate further. There is an arts crime unit to do the job...unless the family has used a convenient opportunity that opened up to steal from their own. Hey, it happens.

Why isn't the one who doctored the deed in prison? Why aren't any charges being filed against him?

She oughta be checking ebay and craigs list.
