Call for boycott of New York Sports Club of Forest Hills

"The entire neighborhood is shocked and furious that the neighborhood NYSC location has stooped so low. They are plastering the Forest Hills neighborhood with their “graffiti”.

Here’s a example - they plastered the LIRR westbound Forest Hills station with their advertising stickers. I have seen a bunch of portable signs sticking out from mounds of snow all along Queens Blvd.

Why do they have to resort to such low level advertising? I encourage the Forest Hills Garden Corporation and other local business and community groups to insist they remove these eyesores!

If they do not, then let’s boycott them! Encourage their membership to drop them!" - Anonymous

This is vandalism, plain and simple. Each one of these stickers (and each portable sign) is considered an illegal posting and warrants a fine.

Unfortunately, it would be difficult to prove that an employee of New York Sports Club did it unless you caught one of them in the act.

How funny though to discover that New York Sports Club, which would like to think of itself as catering to a high-end clientele, is really just a tacky, trashy, disrespectful, dishonest, likely vermin-infested pig business down there with the "we buy junk cars cars" and "who yo baby daddy" establishments.

I wonder what's next for them. Maybe they could start offering pole dancing exercise classes. Better yet, LAP dancing exercise classes. After all, as a brick and mortar business, if you're willing to resort to guerrilla advertising tactics like illegal signs and stickers, you're already in the gutter.

Good luck New York Sports Club! For all we know, prostitutes are already using your establishment to bring in their clientele. You don't appear to be interested in adhering to the law so why should anyone believe you wouldn't stoop to this?

The reporting procedure is fairly straightforward.
Note the address of each illegal ad posting. Take pictures, if possible.
Call 311 (or submit a complaint online). You may want to leave your contact info for follow-up, but it's not required.
Sanitation inspectors will investigate. The fine is $75 PER INFRACTION. From the photo supplied, NYSC of Forest Hills could be on the hook for $1,725 for that one location.

Another, more agressive tactic is to collect a large amount of their illegal postings and dump them at their doorstep or in their reception area.

I've heard such bad things about them as a company, so this doesn't surprise me. I was looking into joining a gym and was considering NYSC, but a lot of people complain about their facilities and shady business practices. It's not worth what they're charging.

Technically, graffiti is a felony. When a "sticker bomber", as they're called, gets nabbed by the NYPD vandal squad...they are fined or imprisoned based on the number of stickers placed or found on them. Time to go after these guys with the law. Make some arrests.

Poor pussies! Spoiled Forest Hillers get a taste of reality. Living in a somewhat sequestered from the rest of the world nabe does not buy much these days.

Has John Liu paid his fines for plastering the nabe with his posters when he ran for city council?

$80 a month, minimum of 12 month contract and you have to give them a month notice of quitting means it's a 13 month minimum

RIP OFF. especially with all the cheaper gyms out there now

I'd want to know who exactly posted it there. I mean it's a pretty stupid idea to distribute stickers for advertising in the first place, but if they hire this out to people that are unsupervised, condemn them first, than NYSC second. If anything, it's a call to action to get a new gym chain in the area to compete.

For the Tubbies in Forest Hills?

Who is that guy kidding?

I should open a Krisy Kreme next door, I will be rich!

That would make this story free advertising for me!

I'm thinking of calling the "We Buy Cars" guys and telling them that I'm giving them permission to place their ubiquitous black-glued signs on my property, and give them the NYSC address.

How could the NYSC not be held responsible? The advertising was clearly created by them, it doesn't matter who put up the stickers - or planted the lawn sigh on Queens Blvd., NYSC created it - DSNY should just send the summons to NYSC corporate HQ. Disgusting - glad I'm member at W fitness.

The marketing works. People are signing up in droves. Its a brief campaign. Isnt there more in life to be angry at besides this? Also, its not 80 a month anymore. Its 260 upfront and 19.95 a month. It works out to 40 dollars a month for the first year then 24 dollars after that. Actually pretty affordable.
