Council members take paid trip to Israel

From Capital New York:

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and a delegation of 14 council members will travel to Israel on Sunday evening for an eight-day visit to the Jewish State.

The trip will be paid for by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the UJA Federation of New York.

Aides to Mark-Viverito said the delegation will meet with political leaders including the president of Israel, Jerusalem city council members and the deputy minister for foreign affairs, as well as mayors of various cities.

Other members of the delegation traveling to Israel are Mark Treyger, Brad Lander, Antonio Reynoso, David Greenfield, Rafael Espinal and Darlene Mealy of Brooklyn; Mark Levine, Helen Rosenthal and Corey Johnson of Manhattan; Ritchie Torres and Andy Cohen of the Bronx; and Donovan Richards, Eric Ulrich and Jimmy Van Bramer of Queens.

This is BS! We are paying the City Coucil to represent us in NYC and not in Israel. Let Washington take care of the diplomatic relations and trips to Israel. We have enough problems to take care of in our communities at home-NYC.
Stop pandering for the Jewish vote!

If ISIS savage's got 72 Vivoritoes in death they would put down their weapons and die of Old Age

That 's one way of securing New York's Jewish vote to get re-elected. Next they will be pushing for a trip to Paris to study their municipal problems. I elected my council member to represent me here at at home...home meaning NYC. Traveling is for diplomats and federal folk , not for city employees. What does Paul Valone, my "representative" think? LOL! I'll bet he's already learning Hebrew. "Oy vey, mamma mia".

I guess NYC is really Jew York City.

What a waste of money.

City Council is local not international.

So disheartening that nothing ever changes with these crooked wasteful politicians.

So what? This past December, NY State Assembly members traveled to Israel, paid for by our tax money. Click on the link below to read who went:

How about a visit to London to check out their sewer system?

Who bunks with Van Bramer?

Makes ya wonder what other freebies these guys take.

Why aren't they visiting Ukraine, or Yemen, or countries that really need help? They should not favor one constituency over another. They should be representing everyone in their district back home in NYC. What they are doing by going to Israel is just plain wrong!

Anonymous said...

Who cares? It isn't taxpayer money and it isn't like they do anything to help us while they are here!

They should reimburse the city taxpayers for the 10 days worth if salaries that we pay them to perform their duties in representing their entire constituency.

This reminds me off the $300,000 or so "business trips and dinners" Estelle Cooper and her friends took to Venezia Italy to discuss restoration of the New York State Pavilion map.
Meanwhile Port Morris Tile and Marble Corporation (the company that made the maps) was and is STILL up and running right here in New York.
http://www.portmorristile.com/history.html

Otis Elevator, Port Morris Tile and Marble had already been advising the city what needs to be done for over 20 years, most of that advise and help was "pro bono" Cooper didn't want to hear any of it and wouldn't even take the calls or be told by her staff the calls existed.
--Cooper must have siphoned off over a million $$ all them "save the NYSP" dinner fundraisers at Terrace On The Park.
Why isn't here estate being forced to pay it back ?? Not a PEEP of the audits details it in the news ?

I been saying for years: Shit sticks and festers together like sacks of soiled diapers & rotting garbage.
Yet--STUPID Queens voters refuse to change this dirty "family" of corrupt democrats politicians protecting each other out !!!
They are ALL DIRTY with hands in each others laps IMHO !!!!

Who appointed Estelle Cooper, Joe?

Anonymous said...

Why was Estelle allowed to work at her high position with Parks for so long while her shady business was going on. Who was protecting her? Plus she was sick with Parkinson's and a firm of dementia toward the end of her life but was still kept in her position . Nobody said a word!

"The trip will be paid for by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the UJA Federation of New York."

Remember this next time they call for "Donations"

Anonymous said...

Oh and by the way can you guess WHO funds The Council on Jewish Relations and the UJA in NYC. Think just a little bit you'll figure it out...

Why is Shulman still getting her perks? The clubhouse runs Queens like a fiefdom. If you put in years servicing the status quo you get rewarded in one form or another. Cooper is pushing up daisies in her own garden plot. What about the rest of the former Donald MNes crooks who are still breathing air?Look around your community board. There they might be warming a bench for a nice salary. District manager, anyone?

Politicians traveling out of their district...abroad....is not anything new. Didn't Tommy. Huang organize a junket to Taiwan years ago? Did not members of CB7 and various officials and politicians accompany him? And for what purpose? All Gary Ackerman. A lot of campaign contributions were spread around town. Myra Baird Herce might be questioned regarding that trip.

Let them travel on their own sheckles and time not on my dollar.

But no, the jewish groups dont have NY politicians in their pockets. Nope, not at all.

Cooper was appointed in 1994 by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
The same "flip flopping" jackass who went after the mob and allowed WORSE immigrant mobs to take the spots and vices.
Take a walk through S Ozone park, lower Ridgewood or Woodhaven un-armed at night these days.
Things were much better when the Gambino were around Giuliani should have left them alone. What we have now is WORSE including the politicians !

Joe, I doubt the city wanted to use Port Morris Tile since the Owner Delazzero plead guilty to Fraud and Bid Rigging.
