Court of Crap almost complete

From the Daily News:

The former Queens Family Court building is undergoing a $194 million transformation that community leaders hope will spur new development in downtown Jamaica.

The library-turned-courthouse is slated to get a third incarnation as 346 units of low-income, affordable and market-rate apartments with an underground parking garage. It is also expected to house retail stores and community organizations.

The project at 89-14 Parsons Blvd., dubbed Moda, is to open next spring.

"What's special is that we agreed to keep the historic facade of the old library," said Drew Spitler, vice president of development at the Dermot Co., which is revamping the building.
That's special, all right...

I like how they want to keep the old library facade and FORGET the Family Court part. No one who had to go to that building can forget - but you know? Let's forget. It might be better that way.

That thing looks hideous. What a mockery of historic preservation.

Affordable housing was always a joke. Now it's a laughingstock.

They have been spending millions on rejuvinating Jamaica going back to the 1970s.
Just call in an air strike and start over again.

The Queens Library's Central Library should have stayed there and renovated/expanded the building -- it had the design of what a Central Library should look like. Unlike the bland building they built on Merrick Blvd.

This they have money for, but not to hire teachers in the previous posting...Send your thank you's to "where" for keeping the facade !

Another fine public building given away to a developer. Shame on our leaders! Shame on us for reelecting them.
