Some food-related quickies

Today's NY Times tries some Flavors of Asia in Elmhurst.

They also have a story on the guy pictured above who is so addicted to the Mets that he flies 1200 miles to see them:

...for nearly every New York Mets homestand over the past four years, Mr. Lee has flown to New York from his adopted home of Kansas City, Mo., to sell cotton candy at the games.

Now there's a fan!

blue cotton candy, how unusual. I guess the guy figures that Queens residents have had enough of pink things these last few months.

I just wish I could get to more games.

I don't eat in Elmhurst restaurants. Many are filthy and they use gamey body parts you don't find in Manhattan eateries.

How many tourists do you find wandering around Elmhurst - well those whose visa haven't expired?

It is "Exhibit A" of a failed community. Ugly. Noisy. Filthy.

The tourist push in Queens is not aimed at the broader public (how many people do you know that shop at 82nd Street, Main Street, Liberty Avenue, Corona Ave and Jamaica Ave?), but at the friends and family of the immigrants already living here - need to build bigger and bigger immigrant communities for more grand opportunities to tweed you know.
