Huge drop in criminal summonses

From the Daily News:

The city is moving in the “right direction” with a dramatic drop in tickets for small-time crimes like public drinking and public urination, Mayor de Blasio said Sunday.

The number of criminal summonses dropped 90% for the period from June to October, compared with the year before, after the City Council passed a law allowing cops to give civil tickets for the minor offenses, which also include unreasonable noise and littering.

But the new civil summonses did not make up the difference in tickets — there were about 26,0000 civil summonses, while criminal summonses dropped more than 50,000, according to the data released Friday.

Decriminalize crime, what a great idea. That's one way to get crime statistics down.

Rudy Giuliani, call your office.

Guess where the lost funds will be made up. Hint: not in pay cuts for politicians.

What summons, its now like Tijuana Mexico where you need to kill a tourist to see cops do something.
On Roosevelt ave the immigrant mommy's pull the kids pants down and make them pee & crap in the street. Then you have your Trannys, Hookers, people selling fake ID. The cops are "not allowed to see that" according to the one I spoke with at the Woodside train station where some person was squatting down at the end of the LIRR platform

The streets of Queens reek of
urine and beer. Mayor DeBozo, this Corona's for you.

Why would you want to make disgusting acts like urinating in public (which also poses a heath risk) and public drinking penalty-free? That would certainly encourage more of it. What a stupid idea---absolutely typical of the clueless Dope From Park Slope.

Dump de Blasio and the foolish councilpeople who endorsed him: Vallone endorsed de Blasio - enough said.

Hard to believe that the City is giving up revenues from fines like this. They probably intend to make it up with more "speed" camera tickets, and by slowing traffic to an utter standstill and then fining hapless motorists for "blocking the box".

Speed cameras, now they are doing cameras and under pavement sensors for the crosswalks and lines in the street.

Source, please? That sounds almost Orwellian.
