A detailed LaGuardia timeline

So here's a source I never expected to link to, but Conde Nast Traveler has an excellent breakdown of the plans for LaGuardia Airport, from Spring 2018 through 2022 and beyond.

$4.5 billion and no viable train line, just a proposed airtrain. Jeez, waste of money that still doesn't solve the biggest problem with all metro airports, which is ... TRANSPORTATION!!!

The proposed AirTrain would connect to the Citi Field station on the 7 line. That will be good for Mets fans and people who attend the many concerts that are held there. Fans of the US Open will be able to go from the airport directly to the USTA. However, what about the local residents? We have still have to deal with an increasingly packed, unreliable train system.

As usual tourists are the big winner when the city unveils big projects. it's this fuck the tax payer mentality that DiBlASSio and Super Mario Cuomo junior believe in that is going to screw us all in the long run. Im moving to Texas !!

No news about what LGA plans, if any, to reduce intolerable noise from planes flying low over Flushing, Bayside, and the other neighborhoods?

Once they start to develop that waterfront the airport will be toast. It is likely the main reason that natives moved out of Flushing leaving a void for the Chinese - as that community is unbearable being under the flight path.

Also, the pollution that airport is spewing is unbelievable. I wince when we see the landing route in a long slow lazy flight path over Brooklyn-Queens. Drones are the least of the problems if you catch my drift.

There are plenty of marsh around Newark and Kennedy can expand into Lawrence (which will soon be underwater anyway.

You are right about the transit - its only for the sports fans. No one dares access from the west as it will be packed with Rikers traffic.

"As usual tourists are the big winner when the city unveils big projects." NYC used to have a strong industrial base (shipbuilding and aircraft). Now it relies on tourism for a lot of it's revenue.

Just remember, it's built on a landfill
And will always be La "GARBAGE"

and according to the local rags, reporting on MTA presentation to Astoria CB1 last week, the next 16 months of redoing 4 stations WILL NOT include making the stations ADA compliant, meaning NO elevator for the growing aging and disabled populations; nor any improvement to service. All window dressing. Nerts.

Look at the glitzy renderings. Where do cars park? We're apparently tearing down the garages that were just built. The promotional material says the terminals will be 600 feet closer to the parkway. That's where the parking lots are. The pretty pictures show there will be no room to expand the GCP, which will be inevitably necessary. Is this more of a master plan to punish drivers? Will we be forced to use time-wasting public transit? I can get to LGA in 15 minutes now. It will be over an hour if I have to take the car to a train to a train. Or will we have to park far away and wait for a bus to get to the terminal?
