DeBlasio has tax-the-rich scheme to fix subways

From the NY Times:

Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to push for a tax on wealthy New Yorkers to pay for improvements needed to address the crisis engulfing New York City’s subway, city officials said on Sunday.

The proposal is the latest move in the battle between Mr. de Blasio and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo over who bears responsibility for repairing the deteriorating transit system. The plan would also pay for half-price MetroCards for low-income riders — part of a national movement that has gained momentum in New York.

Mr. de Blasio will announce a so-called millionaires tax on Monday for wealthy New York City residents to pay for subway and bus upgrades and for reduced fares for more riders, an idea that has been successful in Seattle.

His funding push comes as the subway faces a multitude of problems, and leaders at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates the subway, have called on Mr. de Blasio to provide more money for the system.

This was Michael Genarisis's plan. The Blaz, like the methods of entrepreneur hipshits and the predator developers, is stealing (co-opting I think they call it) an idea and claiming it as his own.

De Faustio is using the subway like he used the LICH closing to get elected.

It's the rapacious overbuilding that has increased the burden on the subway.
It's Duh Blasio , himself who is in league with these same developers.
Where do you think he gets his political campaign contributions from?
BINGO......the big developers.
The dope from Park Slope is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Why not cancel the $2.5 billion LIC to Brooklyn trolley folly and spend the cash on subway and bus upgrades?

Anonymous said...

I agree with anonymous (commentor 3) we should skip that stupid trolley idea which we know probably wont even run half the year anyway properly and spend that money on fixing our subways

Where is Cuomo on this issue? You think with this supposed rivalry he has with the mayor that he would verbally and publicly shoot this trolley plan down, just to embarrass and undermine de Faustio like he usually does. Where are the assembly members and council people from the districts this stupid shit will roll on, after all the infrastructure damage and business killing the construction will do the areas first?

Because they live in total subservience to REBNY. Never mind that the majority of their luxury towers units will be dark and empty and only used for money laundering for corrupt foreign rich pigs.

These people, the electeds, are supposed to be smarter than us. And smarter than this. They are pussies.

He could do squat without city council that passes the budget and sets the agenda.

DeBlaz knows that Albany is shut down until after elections. Its a straw dog.

"Tax the rich"---pure Commie ideology. What a surprise hearing this from Comrade Bill DeBlASSio. Tax the people least likely to use the subways and drive more of them out of the city, further shrinking the tax base and necessitating taxes rise on the rest of us---except for his beloved illegal invader criminals and welfare thugs, who pay none. A knee-jerk Commie play from his sick playbook.

When will we be rid of this oversized loser? And, looking over the list of rival candidates shaping up, I shudder to think who will replace him.

How's about the rich folk all leave and the poor folk crawl to work on all fours?

Taxing the rich should have been enforced on a 'sliding scale' income, exactly the way it ALWAYS used to operate like!

Case in point: President Dwight D. Eisenhower was the last, fiscal conservative (and sane leader!), to occupy The White House, where every single highway, hospital and public building got built without a 'taxation without representation' credo, BECAUSE corporations were taxed as high as 80%——and, NO ONE SUFFERED in beggary, obscurity and quiet desperation like what's happening over the last 40 years, and counting——LEAST of all the corporations themselves, all of which paid a higher, sliding scale amount——and, why wouldn't they, when they earn so much?

Further, JQ is right: This was another low performer's idea from yesteryear: Michael Genaris, and as usual this latest embarrassment to actual primates is taking credit for something that was never his idea in the first place!

Hey, Shithead Bill: You want to save We, The People money? Stop ignoring fed up and disgusted constituents like ME (as well as Whitestone resident, Vickie Paladino, when you said to your no-neck muscle on Friday, July 21, 2017: "Get her away from me"), and stop misbehaving with a dereliction of public duty, ANSWER ALL of your telephone calls from complainants like me (my curb has been damaged by the DOT since 2007, and my Assemblyman, Michael Miller is actively engaging and covering up massive NYC pension fraud - likewise Laura Acosta of the Public Advocate's Office - regarding a complaint that BOTH Miller and Acosta are wholly aware of since 2009).

And, finally, stop leaving the country and clean up City Hall and the five boroughs with inclusionary results, and cease and desist from showing up at your gym in Park Slope (replete with city paid bodyguards), and pay for a Stair Master inside of Gracie Mansion with your OWN f**king money——and speaking of which: why are OUR tax dollars funding your wife, Chirlane McCray's two personal assistants to the tune of more than $300K a year——when she is not a publicly elected official? Pay for her Affirmative Action lackeys YOURSELF! And, that's the LOW END of your grinding, profligate, wanton waste, and OBSCENE public dereliction of duty, both of which are WILLFUL!?

In fact, if there was any justice left in this filthy city and state government (where even Mafia capos would blush!), then 'Tall & Stupid' would be locked up by now, and staring across from that oversize asshole/jackass/public spendthrift nuisance would be many 'OTHER' city/state criminals like Joe Bruno, Shelly Silver, Dean Skelos & Son——and the endless stream of all of Mario's son's politically failed hustlers of 'Gargoyle Andy's 'Friends & Family' state payroll plan, in order to keep his bogus pals on the take (like 'CRIMES WITHOUT CRIMINALS' Peter Vallone, Czarina Christine Quinn——and WAY too many 'OTHER' corrupt, black politicians from the over polluted Jamaica swampland, to name in this missive).

So, THERE'S YOUR WASTE & MISMANAGEMENT, Bill & Mario's son! Both of your cradle-to-grave government pensions are MORE than you could have ever earned, much less deserve (as your ever languishing constituents continue to rot in virtual obscurity for life)! And, that's why everyone else in the rank and file never get ahead, because the tax debacle in New York State is even worse than the odds of that chronic and disastrous bordello (and soon to be expanding), Racino foreign gambling mill at Aqueduct——where the 'House' & 'Gargoyle Andy' NEVER LOSE——so unlike everybody else who walks through that giant vacuum cleaning entrance way (that automatically sucks the money and mortgage payments RIGHT out of their pockets, EVEN before they can order up their first overpriced, second rate swig of booze, followed by a greasy meal, where the food is ALWAYS marginally preferable to HUNGER!)!

And, the public be damned (again and STILL)!

"The rich drove up the cost of everything else ."

Try this on for size. The developers lobby, bribe and buy off politicians for legislation that allows them to build huge towers loaded with tax abatements. The developers sell shitty two bedroom condos and coops for $1+ million with the sales hook being "no taxes for twenty years".
Now Trump comes along and wants to push tax reform where mortgage interest is tax deductible but property taxes are not.
All those who own houses in this city will be hit hard and not one politician cares.

No, no, no Fourth Anonymous from bottom: NOT pure Commie idealogy! When you make more, then it's common sense that you PAY more——or, did you think that the ever oppressed, taxation-without-representation rank and file should take responsibility for the corrupt, greedy oligarchs who priced everything out of reach in the FIRST PLACE? From what school of economics did YOU graduate?

The 1% have destroyed everything for everyone else BUT themselves, as they have left my once great New York City to embody a hollow, nihilistic, dystopian mess of alienation, sterility and disconnection, in ways that have destroyed our way of life forevermore.

Without a thriving and flourishing American class, there can BE no peace, much less progress, when the very people whose lives and livelihoods have been ruined in the name of 'NAKED GREED' can never keep pace with ever climbing inflation (and the inflated prices of oligarchical, multinational products and services, which contributes to the grinding inflation in the first place)!

I been saying it for years !!
Commie ideology and a new copy of Europe is what all these liberal assholes are after. The trolley idea is from some Canadian company who also got billion $$ contracts in Europe, and supplied most the workers.

The subways are falling apart because most the MTA workforce are stupid Carib Islanders who got into MTA via a buddy system. At the Coney Island shop these Islanders outnumber New York born white people 9 to 1. Ever try to have a conversation with one ? --You cant !!

Yes the rich and their useless hipster brat kids did drive up the cost of everything. Yes do indeed TAKE THEM FOR ALL THEY GOT !!!

I wish however this is just propaganda from the commie mayor and his public relations advisors. Its to secure votes and will soon be dropped after his re-election, im sure the educated 1% earning over $ 1M a year know this but not the stupid sheep who make up 99% of democrat voters

That's not the point. Class warfare of this nature was used by the communists in Eastern Europe while they wer building the socialist, communist utopia.
We all know how that came out.

Tax the rich for the subway, they will leave with their money and the poor folk may well have to walk or crawl to work -- IF the jobs created by the rich stay behind.

Dumb Blasio better think this "plan" through carefully.

Unless something changed Genaris' plan for fixing the subways was congestion pricing. I'm one of his constituents and that he would be the most vocal champion of congestion pricing is completely bizarre to me. That's not in the interest of his constituents at all, it's in the interest of his long-term political ambitions, so fuck him.
