A small victory in Astoria

Crappy,

Happy Birthday and thank you so much for passion, love and care you put into your blog each and every day.

I can't thank you enough for telling your readers about the Astoria Medical Center monstrosity behind our homes.

My neighbors and I scored a major victory when the BSA made Pali Realty move their parking garage exhaust vents from the rear to the front, preserving out yards and quality of life. It was due in part to the supportive letters from your readers.

One of my long-term goals is to establish the BSA Toolkit, which would empower residents and activists with the skills, resources, know-how, vocabulary, case studies and advice to fight developers successfully.

I'll let you know when I'm ready to roll it out and get feedback.

Enjoy the weekend and any celebrations you have planned!

Warm regards,

Norm

I've been a long-time reader and fan.
I like the edge/humor you use to point out the absurdities and banality of many of our local politicians.
Thanks

Dear Norm - The City Council is holding public hearings on Wednesday, December 14th, about proposed changes to the rules for BSA applications. http://legistar.council.nyc.gov/MeetingDetail.aspx?ID=519420&GUID=639321F1-1E59-4F4B-98B6-F8A2E64300F8&Options=info&Search=

Is is not sad that the Democratic Party is causing dissention within our communities by pitting one group against another, touting that people have 'rights' to wearing a hajib or having sex with your gender, or other pressing issues of this type...

... but denies everyone the basic right to disagree with them or to fight back against someone that makes a donation to their campaign - as these people did?

No help from the communtiy board, the politicians, or any of the clubs and civics in Astoria that they control and fill up with their friends, all 3 or 4 dozen of them.

I am a Democrat. Most of my friends are Democrats.

But is its issues like this that cause most of them to support Trump. I am sure that he has no love for the common guy, but at least he notices them and talks of their plight.

You cannot say that about self-rightous Joe Crowley or Peter Vallone or anyone in their cabal, clique, or gang, whatever you want to call it.

Wait till these poor homeowners see the 1000 of medicaid people who get on cue the line to get numbers then slum around the area for hours.
Ever pass Wycoff Heights hospital on a summer day, 1000s of sec 8s on the "medicaid cue" lurking.

Sometimes you need timer cycles to get through the red light on Dekalb this sea of people & children slumming & jay walking all over like your in some market square in downtown Beirut.
--Never a traffic cop in sight to restore order !!!

So what ? Its is still your civic duty to throw your fellow Democrats (friends or Republicans) out when they become corrupt and backstab you no ? Why be loyal to a group of America hating bastard progressive Marxists who have done NOTHING but SELL YOU OUT in the name of special interest ?

Its time give other people a chance and do a complete flush a government that has failed miserably. When in office to long these people become too "buddy buddy" It's something can't be helped (human nature) its a primary reason why we have elections and term limits. Our forefathers knew mass corruption eventually festers300 years ago because of this problem in Englands & Frances long LONG history

Look up Jeffersons "Liberty Tree" speech and try to learn something
from it. Speaking of Jeffersons "Liberty Tree" Kadoos to this blog and all those great warriors in Maspeth for exposong, embarrissing and lighting some fire under certain people asses !! They are suceeding in waking lots of sheeple asleep for decades up.

Thank you so much for this heads up! I'll try to attend and, if not, send a letter.

THIS IS A LOT MORE THAN MASPETH - EVERYONE IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE OLD GUARD - THEY WERE GOOD ONCE BUT THEIR TIME HAS PASSED - ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS A SPARK TO BRING DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES TOGETHER - IF THAT HAPPENS THE OLD GUARD WILL MELT OVERNIGHT.

I'd still move away.
What an atrocity!

Imagine the chutzpah of a health facility that was willfully willing to dump exhaust fumes on these people.
