SHOCKING NEWS: Kew Motor Inn a hooker haven!

From the Village Voice:

The Kew Motor Inn, located in a residential section of Kew Gardens, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, was a "haven" for hookers and their pimps. So was the Par Central Motor Inn, which also is located in a residential area of Kew Gardens.

Thanks to the city's "nuisance abatement" laws, however, the alleged hooker havens are no mas -- they were shut down earlier this week after five motel employees were arrested on multiple hooker harboring-related offenses.

(It should be noted that each of these establishments boasts a Yahoo! travel rating of "one star" and "three star" respectively).

"These two motels have been deemed public nuisances that have generated numerous prostitution-related arrests - including those involving underage girls - during the past year and have been the subject of numerous complaints from local residents," Brown explains as the reasons for shutting down the two hooker sanctuaries.

A three month sting to bust motel workers?!? At what cost? So the hookers and pimps will move elsewhere for the time being, the motels will change ownership and be renamed, and the staff will learn to be more discreet next time.
People are killed or nearly killed by cars and don't even get an adequate investigation, and precincts are running one or two patrol cars, but we tie up our resources with this nonsense that will result in plea deals and probation or maybe a few months at rikers. It doesn't even do anything to address the actual prostitution problem. What a waste.

Happy ending for local residents!

Several years ago I was playing softball at Vleigh Park which is across the street from the Kew Motor Inn.

A couple of innings into the game the heavens opened up and we ran for shelter. The bar at the Kew was our immediate destination.

About a dozen sweaty, rain soaked players rolled in and ordered a round of Bud's. Needless to say we got strange looks from the early evening "crowd". After a couple of rounds a man approached us and inquired how long our stay would be. We asked why and were told that our presence was upsetting their clientele. We told the guy we'd be leaving when the rain lightened up.

A short while later we ordered another round of beers and the price of the suds had tripled.

A gentle way of ordering a bunch of burly ballplayers with aluminum bats to evacuate the premises.

I'd like to thank the Kew Motor Inn and the Queens Tribune for keeping me in business.

Meet me in the lobby!
