Comedy school's illegal sign is no laughing matter

"Isn't posting advertisements on street lamps illegal, and don't the owners of the businesses get fined?" - Anonymous

Yes. Call 311 to report the location. This comedy school won't be laughing when they get handed a nice big ticket. You may want to contact your council member about this as well.

Isn't this the comedy school founded by Devon O'Connor, president of Welcome to Whitestone civic association? When you Google the phone number on the sign, the civic's address comes up.

If the city actually fined all the people that put up signs illegally and collected those fines, the city could pave our streets in gold.

Don't wait for the city to get around to removing the sign. It will take months for them to get around to doing it (if they ever get around to it at all - six months and counting for several signs I complained about last year).

Take the thing down yourself.

If you can't get it off the street lamp, slice off the sides with a box cutter thereby rendering it illegible. At least then the criminals who put it up will realize that that particular location isn't worth posting their crap on.

NYC residents shouldn't tolerate this garbage. Take action yourself. No one else will.

John Liu owes 600K for illegal street signs postings from his 2009 campaign, and still has not paid up.

Same phone number for his business as well as his "civic" group?

Look, if the system p*sses you off, you should turn it around to something of humor:

call 311. then let the fun start.

call your city councilman. call them again. yet again. how about one more time?

oh hell, why stop there - do it again and again. see what fun it is?

now the corker. keep a log. share it with your local paper and 'ol cappy.

This happens all the time . When the elections come politicians do the same thing. If you see this happening
just rip it off if you can . The city won't do it .

Some of these signs have been put up with a cherry picker. They are higher than one can reach safely with a free-standing ladder.

The 311 system is about as effective as those old traffic light change buttons.

i have seen the sign in this post on almost every pole in whitestone and willets point they are all a good 15 to 20 feet up high making it impossible to reach them if this guy is a civic leader and president of a civic association should he really be polluting the area with these illegal signs?

Unless he wants to be a politician which I hear he does in that csse he is cutting corners from the get go. Being that laws dont apply to them anyway.
