Man almost killed by pothole

From the Daily News:

A man in his 50s was critically injured when he hit a pothole on his scooter in Queens on Sunday, police said.

The man was riding at 37th St. and Review Ave. in Long Island City when his tire hit the hole around 3:45 p.m., police said.

Speaking of scooters and potholes, what ever happened to NYCScout? You know, the little vehicle that used to ride around and report potholes to be filled? According to their website, they aren't going out anymore. Has the program been suspended?

The city scrapped SCOUT in order to fund the bike lane initiative.

I am sure the program is funded and in operation.

Yes the electeds claimed they "fixed the problem" with this program.

Like all of this bloated government, useless...

Very little information in this story.

Gravely injured on a scooter? How fast was he going? Was he wearing a helmet? Didn't he see the pothole? It was daylight. Was he hit by a car?

Typical NY Daily News reporting. No surprise they are in dire straights financially.

Its my opinion that those cream and Orange 3 wheeled scooters were eliminated and replaced by the NYC 311 system. Those scooters, in my opinion, did not really report that many things, issues as they were supposed to.

311 is useless. If they can't classify a complaint, they send it to the police. Great cut thousands of cops and give them more crap to do .i wonder why crime is on the rise.

The potholes and general conditions of NYC roads is why I gave up riding a motorcycle.

This is by the cemetery where Review Ave meets the Greenpoint Ave bridge meets Van Dam Street. Major truck road that should have been repaved a long time ago.
