311 complaints are down, but not due to lack of complaining

Something happened toward the end of October that caused 311 complaints to plummet to a fraction of what they usually are. Louis Flores has the story, which includes some info from yours truly. If you notice, the week ending 10/24 saw the maximum number of complaints in some community districts at 640. The following week, the highest number in any district was 276. Is this just a glitch, or is someone trying to cook the books?

Might have been a glitch. I know I had a problem for a week or two with the 311 app on my cell saying "You are not connected to the internet" while trying to submit reports...even tho I was standing next to my router or had cell service the reports would not go thru and I'd get the above message. NYC fixed it with an update last week if I remember correctly.

Their system was constantly going down in October...and today as well. Callers gave up and skipped making a complaint.

Minor accounting error...

My district usually was between 1200- 1400 at any given moment/day, on average. Now its mid 700s.

What was once user-friendly is now not. This was suppose to be an upgrade.

This is nothing but intentional. And you wanna bet the crime stats are being manipulated again in the same manner? especially since the NYPD decided to settle with whistleblower Adrian Schoolcraft (who turned out to be kind of a flake, he must have want to take the money and run.)

"Glitch". The web page for reporting streets that need repaving has been down for months.

Hey if they don't hear your complaints, no one complained, right?

This is why you need to call 311 AND your councilman. You dont have the time to play city government - and you pay taxes for people to do that - and should expect them to fulfill the oath of office.

Interesting how you never hear of a Queens councilman complaining about this.

I believe it's called "The Memory Hole"

And your local community board will always tell you to call 311. So what exactly does the community board do anyway besides handing out liquor licenses?

Bloomberg had many faults. That being said, his administration was far, far more transparent. Problems with the 311 map are just the tip of DeBlasio's hidden iceberg. Reports and data that were easily found searching nyc.gov in the past have "disappeared". Local law 47 reports are no longer searchable by zip code or council district in table form only in the time-consuming map form. NYC crime map does not show all index crimes, historical crime data has not been updated by NYPD website, Mayor's Management Report detailed data is way harder to locate. Very nontransparent administration now.

Mayor deBolshevik and Pocahontas Warren are strategizing and setting themselves up to compete with Bernie Sanders as the dream ticket when Madam Secretary is perp walked. These minor city issues are nothin. There is a fundamental transformation going on, and someone has to finish Pres O's job.

Let's see what results come out of a phone conversation Thursday afternoon.
