Not all of Alley Pond Park is treated equally

"The part of the park near Union Turnpike and Winchester Blvd is overrun with weeds and hasn't been cared for in months while the tennis courts are fit for kings." - Linda S., Bellerose

Thank you Linda, I have been running on the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway for years. This path starts right at the location you are complaining about.I wish more people would complain about the conditions in this park. The Parks Department refuses to maintain or put any much needed money into this park. I've called and complained many times. Always being told, we don't have the man power or money.
BULLSHIT

Checkout the overflowing garbage dumpster at the entrance to the park on Winchester Blvd The dumpster is the first thing you see when entering the park. If the Parks Department cared this dumpster would have been relocated years ago.

One dose not want to get his/her tennis whites dirty !

Now that Padavan proteges Haggerty and Halloran are incarcerated, the park will vanish

If it wasn't for Stan picking up trash on the path everyday maybe the hundreds of people who use the Motor Parkway daily would realize how little work the Parks Department actually does in maintaining our park. The Parks department should be thanking Stan everyday for what he does.

Just checked out the park. Grass is cut but plenty of garbage all around. I guess Stan hasn't clocked in yet Who's idea was it to put the dumpster at the front entrance. There has to be a better place for our garbage. It's the FIRST thing you see when entering this park. C'mon stop shitting on the park and move the dumpster

WOW, either Stan is working overtime or fhe Parks Department finally takes action when they have bad press in a blog. Just finished my run and observed a very park and the Parks Department emptying a half filled dumpster on a Saturday. Usually the overflowing dumpster doesn't get picked up until Monday.
I also want to say the park attendant this morning was doing a good job. Maybe there should be more then one person cleaning a park this size?
Where us all the money being spent, definitely not on our parks.
