The blowback blight and anarchy from NYC's Open Restaurants Law

Impunity City

Since eating indoors was still a major risk of contagion for months on end last year, City Council and Mayor de Blasio addressed the existential threat the virus had on the dining and drinking industry and started the Open Restaurants initiative which lifted restrictions and eased regulations for restaurants to build sheds on the street curbs so patrons can come back and dine again outside of their establishments. Despite usurping parking spaces from residents, these businesses were able to recoup some losses and were able to make money again. The city also integrated this program with the Open Streets initiative to “re-imagine” public streets initially centered on cycling and pedestrian commuting by evolving them to plazas with the intent to foster community activity and keeping vehicular traffic out (both initiatives annoyingly prodded by bike zealot/car abolitionist lobby Transportation Alternatives). With the sheds on the asphalt, restaurants were able to extend their businesses by placing tables on the street, enabling to serve more customers. At the time it was logical and necessary.

Even though this was enacted for emergency purposes to keep businesses thriving in a still near dead city (with more prodding from agent of the city TransAlt weaponizing this program to banish cars)  the City Council Cronies and The Blaz decided to make restaurant outdoor sheds permanent, which was buoyed by a bill written by the State Senate and signed by Mario’s Son Governor Cuomo. Now even though restaurants are under the regulatory purview of the Department of Health, the Blaz left the responsibility of monitoring the street sheds under the Department Of Buildings. If this isn’t bizarre enough, the Department of Transportation seems are wholly left out of this even though the streets are officially under their purview. And as expected with the Blaz and the Council Cronies, they conjure these laws without considering the ramifications of them as some restaurants and even non-food related establishments opportunistically took advantage of the bureaucratic fugazi of  NYC’s Open Restaurants and Streets policy.

Bob Grant was right ! WE NYC are a Third World City now.

They are working as intended. To take up as many parking spaces as possible, so that people get fustrated, don't drive and give up their cars. Then we will all apparently be one big happy city bicycling everywhere, without a care in the world.

This shit looks exactly like the Bamba shacks you see down in St.Croix, PR and British virgin Island like Tortola.
Built from any scrap and corrugated tin they can find or what floats in.
Full moon party's where they drink the magic mushroom tea & rum, raves & orgie on the beach till sunrise. That's when the ambulances & Patty wagons come to mop up.
Crazy old Bamba would be so proud !!

Are those structures the new public housing for homeless drug addicts and mentally ill people so they can stay out of the subway system?

Move to the country and then what?
Same shit, perhaps worse !
Cant walk to the bar, pizza joint, hardware store, These country people tell you to sit in a chair, look at birds and get fat. Also freeze your ass of warming up some car in the morning to drive 2 or miles for a lousy donut or anything !!

Only difference is in the country you get the animals in the back yard, along with a recipe.
F_ that no thanks Id rather be dead or homeless in Riverside park tunnels then live like that !!

Nope! I left ten years ago for the "country". Everything's fine out here. Restaurants open, schools open and businesses open. Paranoia is running rampant in Democrat NYC. But don't leave, we don't want you in the "country" !

If that were really true you wouldn't be stuck here on Queens Crap day in and day out. Sure, McDonalds, Taco Bell and Jim Hortons are open. YeeHaah! Schools open, but the pupils are as dumb a planks, just like you.

"Restaurants open" in the country.
Yea till what 10-11PM, walking distance or how many miles drive ?
Let me guess, like that massive shithole called Oaklahoma or local Reichstag municipality in New Hampshire where they roll the sidewalks up 6PM and you can only buy fake .8% beer and wine, Restaurant's included.:
McDolalds, Outback, Applebee's, TGI. Pizza Hut in the usual KIMCO, IHOP Corp, Carlson Restaurants Worldwide Inc. shopping center.
Oh I forgot the local Waffle House, bring your gun.

NYC was always on the verge of "disorder" as is occurring now. "Getting back to normal" is the most ignorant statement that co be made, we didn't even begin to pay the price for everything that has occurred. I feel it not political, I don't care who's sitt in the first seat, it's up to the people of a "community" to determine what community is. "Community" died a long time ago when it became an illusion that doesn't exist anymore. My business, my house, my, my my is the extent of community.

There's less illusion outside of a city that resembles NYC, big deal if I can't find a variety of food at 8pm or walk over to an overpriced supermarket for "something" I can't live without.

Community was a state of mind that became smaller and smaller to the point where community has become either a person's pocket or choice of fun.

Is there no "Boondocks Crap" or "Ass end of Nowhere Crap" or "Shithole Crap" that you could read instead of returning to Queens Crap day in, day out. Is the dump you live in so darned boring that you wish you were back living in Queens?

"you like living with the City Crap with terrible noise"

What noise ?
I was cooking hamburgers somebody was blasting "Super Freak" then car horns, fire truck putting out a turkey fry in some yard, no big deal. Now fireworks are starting.
That's what big citys sound like and it doesn't bother me. These pain in the asses that move here then bitch & complain, tell me how I gotta live should go home or live 18+ floors up in some tower if they don't like noise. They are the problem, NOT noise.

I was born on DeKalb & Central, bedroom window was 60 maybe 70 feet from the M train. The old noisy heavy steel Q Car BMT trains back then!!!
Noise don't bother me, I like noise Its the heartbeat of the city.
It mean's life, I sleep better and wake up ready to go with noise !!
I cant get a good rest or relax in the country, it feels horrible like something's wrong, morbid and dead.
