Royal tweed services

NY Post

The waste hauler set to benefit from a proposed exemption to the Big Apple’s stringent caps on trash hauling employed the son of the lawmaker who led the fight to create the loophole, The Post has learned.

The company, Royal Waste Services, hired Councilman I. Daneek Miller’s son in August 2017 and he remained on the company’s payroll through at least 2019, according to records the company filed with city officials at the time.

That means that Miller’s son, Coron, was employed by Royal Waste as the lawmaker led the effort in 2018 to kill legislation that initially imposed the caps and for at least one of the years that Miller, himself, says he worked to weaken the reforms.

Those efforts controversially culminated in July when Council Speaker Corey Johnson fast-tracked Miller’s legislation, which would have lifted the caps for haulers in his Queens district for four years — before reversing course amid allegations of favor-trading.

Good government advocates called for the city’s ethics watchdogs — including the Conflict of Interest Board — to probe the connections between Miller and Royal.

“There’s enough here to warrant an investigation by COIB and the Department of Investigation,” said John Kaehny, the executive director of good government group Reinvent Albany.

In response to questions, Miller (D-Queens) said that his son left the company “more a year ago,” but could not provide an exact date. He denied that Coron’s employment had any bearing on his repeatedly efforts to undo the 2018 hauling caps.

An AWFUL major polluting company and and AWFUL polluting politician who has sold out his black and people of color's community. This is what I call MAJOR black on black crime. Jamaica Queens has one of the highest rates of asthma, mainly caused by Royal Waste which sits right in a residential neighborhood and public park. Yet, why do these folks constantly put people like Miller, Comrie and the other cancer politicians in office. THEY ARE HELPING TO KILL YOUR COMMUNITY AND CHILDREN.

Hell, wasn't this constantly reported years ago by that blog Clean up Jamaica Queens. I guess no one gives a shit. This is major environmental racism perpetrated by black elected officials in the area. And where are all those so-called Black church leaders in that community. I mean is cleanliness next to godliness. NOT IN JAMAICA.

@"An AWFUL major polluting company "

What's wrong with pollution? Its the backbone of the Rebublican party and free market capitalism. I love the smell of napalm in the morning and all that sort of "Real Merikan" stuff.

Clean air and clean water is for communists.

A Department of Sanitation truck plowed into an outdoor dining shed, dragging it and the diners inside about ten feet before it finally came to a stop.

When I was unfortunately employed by the troglogytes of Royal Waste (their family name says it all: Reali in Italian means 'Royal'), a Latino worker was killed right in front of me (I worked in their trailer on 170th Street; the old man/father who ran the place refused to build an actual office because he would have to pay taxes on the otherwise empty lot) because he wasn't weqaring his orange safety vest and a Caterpilar truck backed into him and killed him instantly. That is on the spectrum of their WORST violations, but every day I would receive the mail from the NYC Department of Finance and other state agencies, informing the owners of literally hundreds of violations that were never corrected, just paid off.

I quit that filthy, soul-crushing job in less than three months, and that was in 2005 (my loyalty and extraordinary organization skills were never rewarded, and I was one of 50 hires who left their employ in less than six months time). The Royal Waste Scourges of the Reali dynasty are still getting away with murder - literally!
